I felt a hand tap my shoulder and I blinked my eyes awake. Tony looked down at me and helped me up. I stretch and look around the jet as I walk off with the team. Clint helped Nat walk, I walked next to Tony with Thor, Steve, and Bruce behind us. I looked back at Bruce; he looked exhausted and scared. I can't imagine what Wanda put him through. As we walked closer to this house in the middle of nowhere, I started to get dizzy again, gripping Tony's arm. He helped to support me.
"What is this place?"
"Safe house."
"Let's hope."
We walked in and I immediately looked around. I got a weird feeling of deja vu... this place reminded me of my home before my parents were taken from me... This'll be good.
"Honey? I'm home."
Honey? I thought Clint was single... But I guess we all have our secrets. A woman turned the corner and she froze, looking up at Clint and the team.
"Hi... company. Sorry I didn't call ahead."
As Clint and her hugged and shared a quick kiss, Tony immediately turned to Thor, "This is an agent of some kind."
I rolled my eyes and nudged him, still trying to keep myself steady as best I could.
"Everyone, this is Laura."
She waved and I weakly waved back.
"I know all your names."
We locked eyes for a minute and I slightly smiled. How strange that I feel so at home here. Suddenly there were footsteps, and they were approaching quickly, my reflexes didn't kick in at all to fight, which is strange to me.
"Incoming."
Two kids came around the corner as they called out to Clint. I started getting dizzier and I clung to Tony tightly. He helped to support me as I forced my body to heal. When I zoned back in, Nat had the little girl in her arms.
"Sorry for barging in on you."
"Yeah, we would've called ahead, but we were busy having no idea that you existed."
"Yeah, well, Fury helped me set this up when I joined. He kept it off S.H.I.E.L.D.'s files. I'd like to keep it that way. I figured it's a good place to lay low."
I looked over as I heard a crack and noticed Thor had stepped on... something. I rolled my eyes as he pushed it with his foot under the couch. The little girl approached Thor and I made quick eye contact with Steve. He could tell I was weak and clearly losing the fight of staying up. Thor walked out and Steve followed, I looked over at Tony and followed Steve.
"Thor?"
"I saw something in that dream. I need answers, I won't find them here."
Then, he flew off. Steve looked around a bit before turning to face me. We stared at each other for a moment, something clearly on his mind. I nodded slowly and he nodded back to me, turning, and walking off. I took a few steps forward, sitting on the steps to the door. Still fighting to stay awake, but the dizziness seemed to be subsiding. Tony sat next to me, making sure I was alright. I nodded to him and he nodded back. Eventually, Steve returned walking past me and stepping inside. He patted me on the shoulder as he passed and I smiled, thinking of how grateful I am for the team. Then, I started to think, letting my smile fall away. Thinking back to Wanda and how she couldn't handle my vision.
"Weird...."
As someone who has been experimented on you would think that she could watch it. But, maybe that's why she couldn't take it. Who knows at this point. Either way, I find it odd that she and her brother aren't trying to look at the bigger picture. Ultron is the enemy and they're following him blindly. I think they want us dead as well, but what will Ultron do after we're gone? And will the twins be okay with it then?
