((tw// almost drowning, poison, sickness, blood, slight panic attack))

Clay barely managed to grab Nick's hand before the two met the freezing rapids. The cold water surrounded the two men, consumed them like cold fire. Dream pulled Sapnap into an embrace, clinging into him so they didn't get separated. Only then did he noticed the water turn crimson.

Nick was hit.

Dream needed to get both him and Nick out of the water and now. He didn't know what type of wound Sapnap had, staying in the river much longer will cause more damage no matter what.

With Nick in his grip, Dream broke the surface of the water. He struggled to keep Nick's head above, let alone his own. He knew the river they were in ran for a little longer, and at the end was a bay. He'd just have to ride the currents until then, since in both sides were canyon walls. The water swarmed them, forcing its way down their throats and into their lungs.

The entirety of the time, Nick fought tooth and nail to get away from Dream. But no matter how hard he fought, they were still both going the same direction, down the river.

"Get- Get away from me!" Sapnap gasped as he tried to breathe, but the water choked him.

"Damnit Nick! I'm trying to help-" he gurgled water and coughed it out.

He saw the bay just a little more down the way. Determination as his driving force, he started to paddle his arms. Nick was becoming hysterical now, gurgling and gasping, sputtering out incoherent words. The pure weight of Nick's armor alone was dragging both under.

But somehow, someway, Dream managed to pull both onto the muddy bay. Tiredness ceased his muscles, he didn't want to move. Fighting the rapids and Sapnap at the same time tired the criminal out quickly. But he didn't have time for this. Dream shot up to his knees and ripped off his mask, gasping for air. He soon realized the more important thing. Sapnap. Dream disregarded the need to hide his identify and threw his mask to the side and crawled over to his friend.

Pale white, blue and green made up his current skin-tone. Foam formed and bubbled at the ridges of Sapnap's mouth. He was choking. Sapnap was struggling so much, veins started to pop out of his neck. Clay's heartbeat began to race at an immeasurable speed, he began to hyperventilate.

"What the fuck!" Clay tried to wrap his head around the situation. "Po-poi-poison. You've been poisoned." Clay looked at the blood pooling around Sapnap's stomach wound. "Bastards!" He cried out. He pulled Nick's head into his lap and pushed the wet hair from his face. The troll's blade was coated in poison.

Clay always remembered the fire that blazed forever undying in Nick's amber eyes. They were also so full of fight and passion. But they had dulled now, they were barely clinging onto life.

"Hey Nick, Nick you gotta stay with me, okay?" Clay was less telling a fact, and more off pleading to the gods. "Please I just found you... I can't lose you! Not again." Clay tried to look strong.

Dream shifted his attention down to Sapnap's injury. The cut was clean, made from a knife. There was a soft green hue to the blood nearest to the wound. "Snake's heart..." Dream's stomach tied itself into knots. He had seen this very poison on the battlefield. It claimed many lives.

Snake's heart was a dangerous poison. It was banned from most common markets. No well-known antidote, nothing he could do but treat the symptoms. Clay felt panic cease him as Sapnap's blood stained his hands. He forced Sapnap's armor off. First the shoulder pads and chest-plate, then the steel-plated gloves. Clay applied pressure to the wound.

As he focused on Sapnap' wound, Clay didn't notice how he reached up. Nick placed a shaky hand in Clay's tear-stained cheek.

"Cuh-lay?" His voice was quiet and meek, it held no strength.
