Eyes of Ember

There he was, King Philza in all his graceful glory. Dosed in armor of golds and green, he looked like an ancient god, coming down from the heavens to test mortal men. He flapped his wings with rhythm, keeping himself floating above the chaos that was sure to ensue. With each movement his massive wings made, a gust of wind followed suit.

After his sudden and dramatic entrance, Clay felt the shackles around his wrists release and fall to the floor with a thump. Immediately, he struggled to stand up, his body was left weak due to neglect. Clay felt a pair of arms catch him as he nearly fell forward. He glanced over his shoulder to see Techno, grinning like a mad man with a shackle key.

"Took you long enough." Clay smirked as Techno led him away from Ember's range.

"Me and Wil had to sneak around and inventory the weapons and armor. Wil's manning the defense outside, Tommy and Tubbo will be here in a moment." Techno explained. With his black gloved hand, Techno summoned a healing potion and handed it to Clay. "You'll need your strength-"

A group of the dark armored illusions filled the room. Having heard the shattering glass they must have assumed they were under attack. Clay started to panic slightly as Techno helped him regain his strength. He took the potion and downed it within the second.

"Worry not, the Fourth has troops surrounding the castle and outskirts. We are ending this today." Techno said in a reassuring tone as he handed Clay light armor and a short half cape of green.

Clay was now in tan trousers and a white blouse, he had leather gauntlets and boots with his half cape slung over his left shoulder.

Sapnap and Ant rushed over to Clay. Sapnap took hold of his old friend and embraced him. "Bastard! You had a plan-" Sapnap sniffled as he buried his face into Clay's shoulder.

"I always do." Clay hugged him back.

"Alright, just before me and Wil tagged your armors. Here-" Techno then managed to summon both suits of armor branded with greens and whites, the Wakes family colors. They even had the green rose pounded into the left shoulder pad. Once they were suited up and ready to defend the crown, Clay was fully recovered.

"Wait!" Ant hissed. "Where is Bad? And George?" He asked.

Each man looked at each other in confusion before all of their eyes shot up to where Ember was. She was holding George by the back of the neck, staring down at the men. Her unusual eyes were burning with pure hate, they looked like they were smoking with purple mist. When she opened her mouth to speak, her teeth had become sharp and unholy.
George looked defeated, his head hung low and his eyes were hollow, empty even.

"We've been fighting this battle for centuries, Philza. Do you really think you'll win after all this time? Even with your so-called sons?" She hummed. Techno snorted out at her rebuttal. Her claw like nails were digging into George's throat, pricking at his skin until he bled. Her eyes flew up to meet Philza. "It has been a long time since you've dawned that armor, Angel of Death, Killza."

Angel of Death, that's what she called him right? Clay had heard the legend of a man born from the heavens with wings of a bird who conquered any field he touched. But Clay thought it was just a tale, no one heard about the Angel of Death for near decades. The legend was Philza? Or Killza as Ember called him?

"Centuries?" Ant hissed under his breath as he watched. "How old even is she? Wait, how old is your dad?" Ant looked at Techno, who just shrugged lightly.

Becoming enraged like a bull in an arena, Sapnap charged at Ember. He rushed up the stairs back onto the execution platform where he met a sonic burst, emanating from Ember. It was like her body exploded, but she was fine. She even threw George off to the side, where he slammed into the floor. Bad had reappeared from somewhere else and ran to George's aid.

Clay cringed as George was thrown across the room. He had to fight to urge to run to him, to embrace him and kiss him. Clay missed George. But there was no saving what they had lost. Wither's snipped the divine string that tied the two together.
Sapnap stumbled back, getting knocked off his feet and falling down.

"You idiot!" Ember's voice became low and distorted. "Haven't you ever learned not to interrupt a woman while she speaks?!" Her pale skin then started to smoke, wisps of black and purple swirled off her body and swirled around her.

"Oh shit-" Clay cried. "Sapnap get your ass out of there!" Sapnap wasted no time and rushed back to his group.

Ember pulled her arms to her chest and leaned over. As she did so, the smoke coming from her became more intense, covering her entire body in a smokescreen. They only heard her cackling. After what seemed like and eternity, scaly wings shot out from the smoke. They were pitch black and massive, bringing Philza's wings to shame. Her intense laughing just became more detrained as the wings flapped, clearing the smoke. The room became still, nothing but Ember moved.

"Ever heard of dragons?" It was Ember's distorted voice that broke the silence. The wings had sprouted from her back. Horns grew out of her forehead and curled back, she even had a tail now which swished back and forth with anger. "It took me decades to learn a shifting spell-" smoke billowed from her lips as she talked, "-but damn does it feel good."

Her eyes locked onto Clay. They were burning into his skin like a fire that was too hot. She would stop at nothing to take Clay's last breath. This battle was a fight of endurance and will to go on. With a majestic show of power, Ember flap her brilliant wings, she lifted off and flew off towards Philza, their battle would remain in the sky.

"The lady just turned into a dragon!" Ant whimpered. "And people wonder why I'm gay! That's terrifying!" He shivered.

"Clay-" Techno looked up, handing the former Prince a blade and the smiley face mask. "We follow you now." He balled his hand into a fist and slammed it into his chest as a salute. Clay smiled at the mask and placed it over his head, but didn't allow it to cover his face.

Clay looked around the throne room. Their target was Ember, but no one but Philza could reach her. Soon enough, the room would be overflowing with her soldiers.

"Okay." Clay inhaled. "Bad and George need their weapons. Ant, you are in charge of watching George. I don't trust him yet." He pointed to Bad and George. "Ember is somehow connected to those pillars, they were here when my family had the crown. We can't each the crystals on top without a bow and George is an expert marksman, we'll need him."
Techno nodded and rushed off to give the others armor, Ant followed to help out. Clay then turned to Sapnap and grabbed his shoulders, staring into his best friend's eyes. "What do we do?" Sapnap asked.

A smirk tugged at the corner of Clay's mew. "What do we do?" He echoed. "What we've always done. We fight."

Sapnap smiled and nodded. With their backs together, they took a defensive position. No matter what happened in this kingdom today, Ember would die by Clay's hand, and that's a promise he intended to keep. A flame of hope had managed to survive the harsh winter of doubt. There was no more room for fear.

As the groups of illusion soldiers and even soldiers from the Fourth came flooding in, the sky covered itself with a dark sheet of gray clouds. Thunder and lighting rumbled in the far distance as the storm closed in. It mirrored that day in the City of Mists all those years ago. The only difference now, Clay didn't feel so alone. He had the support and the will, could Ember say the same?
