Modifiers

A noun phrase is a set of words with a noun as the head word and other modifiers.

Modifiers may be in the form of determiners (articles, demonstratives, possessives, quantifiers), adjectives and prepositions. 

(article, noun)

I have a puppy.

(article, adjective, noun)

I have a furry puppy.

(possessive, quantifiers, adjective, noun)

My four furry puppies are on the mat.

You can improve your sentences with noun phrases.
