      A conjunction is a word that is used to connect sentences, clauses, phrases or words of equal rank.

    * observe parallelism

3 KINDS OF CONJUNCTION

Coordinating Conjunctions
- joins word or group of words that have equal grammatical weight in a sentence
- used to combine independent clauses

F - for - show reason
A  - and - means addition
N - nor - establishes negative choice
B - but - means contrast
O - or - establishes positive choice
Y - yet - shows contrast
S - so - shows result

Subordinating Conjunctions
- used to join a dependent clause to an independent clause

After - later than the time that : later than when
Examples :
* Call me after you arrive at work.

Although - despite the fact that : used to introduce a fact that makes another fact unusual or surprising
Examples :
* Although she was tired, she couldn't sleep.

As - used to introduce a statement which indicates that something being mentioned was known, expected, etc.
Examples :
* As we explained last class, coordinating conjunctions are connectors.

Because - for the reason that
Examples :
* I painted the house because it was a horrible color.

Before - earlier than the time that : earlier than when
Examples :
* Come and visit me before you leave.

How - in what manner or way
Examples :
* Let me show you how to write.

If - used to talk about the result or effect of something that may happen or be true
Examples :
* It would be fantastic if you could come to the party.

Once - at the moment : as soon as
Examples :
* Once you've learn how to cycle, it's very easy.

Since - used to introduce a statement that explains the reason for another statement
Examples :
* Since you've studied so well, you can go outside and play.

Than - used to introduce the second or last of two or more things or people that are being compared - used with the comparative form of an adjective or adverb
Examples :
* My sister is younger than me.

That - used to introduce a clause that states a reason or purpose
Examples :
* Olivia is so happy that it's summer again.

When - at or during the time that something happened
Examples :
* A teacher is good when he inspire his students

Where - at or in the place that something happened
Examples :
* We went to the bar where there most shade.

Whether - used to indicate choices or possibilities
Examples :
* Bruno wasn't sure whether to go to Baguio or Tagaytay.

While - during the time that something happened
Examples :
* While we are in Paris, it snowed.

Until - up to the time or point that something happened
Examples :
* We stayed up talking until the sun came up.

Correlative Conjunctions
- words that join the sentence elements with the same grammatical value
- always work in pair
