Chapter 1

~Sixth Year~

*Aria Medlar*

*start song*
"I'm getting pretty bloody tired of nearly eating it every time I pass through that barrier" Onyx sighed as we pushed our trolley to the loading area.

"I like to think of it as a fun tradition we do every year" I responded with a smirk as Luce snorted

Nyx just rolled her eyes and handed her bag to the men that loaded them on the train. Every single year the three of us spend the last two weeks of break together before we leave for Hogwarts. So naturally I make fun of Nyx for almost face planting through the barrier every year.

The three of us finished loading our bags and decided to search for the boys before the train took off.

"Oi Medlar is that you?" A voice suddenly called out from behind us

A smile spread on my face as I spun around. My brown eyes met warm hazel ones. Not wasting a moment I sped toward Enzo and jumped in his arms.

Letting out an oomph, he stumbled back for a second but quickly regained his balance and hugged me back. "You're kind of ruining my street cred Ari. All these girls are gonna think I'm soft."

"Oh please it's not like you haven't already shagged them" I smiled pulling back to study his face.

He had gotten more attractive over the summer which was no surprise due to the fact that every girl was either wanting to be shagged, or had already been shagged by him.

The boy just winked back at me before the other two caught up and we climbed on the train. After looking around for a few minutes we finally found a compartment near the front of the train and filed in.

"Where's Draco and Blaise?" I asked sitting down across from Enzo beside Nyx.

"Right here actually" Blaise suddenly said opening the compartment door and plopping down beside Enzo.

Everyone said hi to him as Nyx started complaining about how boring train rides were. This in turn caused Enzo to start talking about one of his eventful train rides with Luna Lovegood.

Draco soon walked in after and added his opinions on Lovegood. Usually I pay no heed to Enzo's bed stories but this one somehow struck a weird nerve.

"Ewwww I would like to keep my food in during this train ride please" I scoffed grimacing at their talk of her having to use The Vial.

Lorenzo stuck his tongue out at me in response before Draco went on to talk about Luce being a Mudblood. "And for God's sake Aria could be a mudblood too for all we know. Since she refuses to tell us who her birth parents are" The blond spat

"That's because she doesn't have to. We know who her adopted parents are, and they are very lovely people in my opinion." Enzo shrugged leaning back in his seat.

I just smiled in answer as Draco scoffed.

"Go wank it off Malfoy you seem stressed" Nyx said causing me and Luce to snort.

Nyx was the person I was closest to in the group. Besides Enzo of course. She always knew what to say when I needed it. She also literally hexes any boy who hurts me so that comes in handy.

"If you're stressed I've got some muggle herbs that'll help ease it" Enzo said standing up and grabbing a bag of something that looked like grass from his backpack.

"That smells absolutely disgusting" I complained grabbing my nose to block the stench.

The rest of the group went on to ask questions about the herb and how it was ingested, Enzo answering them all effortlessly. I rolled my eyes at him, of course he'd be the one to know everything about muggle weed.

Eventually though everyone quieted down and Enzo threw his legs on my lap, closing his eyes. Deciding that that wasn't such a bad idea I too rested my head on the wall and relaxed.

Suddenly though, the compartment door was thrown open to reveal Adrian Pucey standing there looking unbothered. "Aria we need to talk" He demanded not even glancing at anyone else in the group.

Enzo groaned and muttered "Yay...Pukey's here"

I just shot him a look to shut up and he raised his hands in surrender. Honestly I really wasn't in the mood to talk to Adrian...especially after how everything went down. But I did know him, and I know that he won't leave until I say yes.

"Make it quick." I answered starting to stand up, but I was quickly pulled back by Enzo grabbing my hand.

I was suddenly very hyperaware of the warmth of his skin. "Are you seriously about to go talk to that douche after what he did?" The boy asked looking at me like I was crazy.

"It will be quick" I snapped taking my hand out of his and following Adrian down the hall.

We kept walking until we reach the boys lavatory. "In here would be best" He concluded

I scoffed "Are you serious? I am not about to talk to you in there of all places"

"Fine" He muttered as we kept walking

Finally he stopped in front of a tiny storage closet. "Is this more to your standards?"

I just huffed in response and walked in, Adrian following. Just as the door shut behind us, Adrian spun me around and crashed his lips on mine.  My eyes widened in surprise as I attempted to push him off of me.

"What the bloody hell is wrong with you?" I yelled trying to catch my breath after successfully pushing him off.

"It's been three months Medlar you had to have missed me" He smirked

My jaw dropped. Who does this git think he is? "Are you serious right now? If remember correctly, which I do, three months ago you were shagging Cho. While you were dating me!"

"We all make mistakes Ari, just let me show you how sorry I am" Adrian muttered leaning in for another kiss but I put my hand on his mouth.

"One. Only Enzo calls me Ari. Two. That wasn't a mistake it was a choice. And Three. I'm leaving" I hissed opening the closet door and walking out.

Adrian's footsteps sounded behind me. "You can't keep denying what we have! And when you come crawling back just know that I told you so" He called as I gave him the finger and continued walking.

Eventually reaching the compartment I pulled the door open and plopped down on the bench with a huff. Enzo raised his eyebrows at me and I just mouthed 'later' in response. The boy nodded and gave me a reassuring smile causing my cheeks to heat up slightly.

God, Aria what's wrong with you today?

I tried to ignore how idiotic I was being the rest of the ride by getting some sleep, but every time I closed my eyes, Enzo's leg would brush against mine and I'd suddenly become very awake.

"You okay Ari?" The boy asked "You seem on edge"

I looked up and met his soft eyes. He had always known when I was feeling off, but this time I couldn't exactly explain to him why.

So instead I just smiled "Yeah I'm fine. Just tired of Draco's complaining" I muttered

Enzo let out a chuckle. "That makes two of us."
