Chapter 16
Disclaimer: I own nothing. Rick Riordan does.
----------
Calypso didn't wait for Leo.
She had seen him in his bunker, fast asleep, which was good considering he hadn't slept for the last few days. She wrote a note, put it on Leo's workbench, and left. She didn't want to give Leo more of a burden.
It had been one day since she left. Monsters had bombarded her, but Calypso had easily defeated them.
But one thing she couldn't defeat was the guilt clouding over her thoughts like a poisonous gas, slowly and painfully killing her, getting worse each time she inhaled.
Calypso didn't want to believe she had been the cause for Annabeth's death. But she had been the reason for the misery of so many.
She shook off the thought. It was nighttime, meaning she was supposed to sleep.
----------
Calypso did not have sweet dreams.
She was in Camp Half-Blood, and everyone was roasting marshmallows, and singing camp songs. Calypso didn't see Leo or Percy, nor did she see Piper or Jason.
Most of the campers were singing half-heartedly, but they were trying to keep the mood up. The fire was slightly dim, and of mixed colours, probably representing the campers' mixed emotions.
How Calypso knew this? Leo had been talking non-stop on their time on Festus.
In her dream- Calypso was aware that it was a dream- the singing of the campers abruptly ended, as Rachel Elizabeth Dare, the Oracle of Delphi, suddenly became stiff, her eyes glowing green. Green smoke circled around her, ask she emitted a prophecy:
One shall venture alone,
Meets two more only to fall in the dome,
Encounter will, one who is lost,
But to win the war, find they must,
The one who's eyes show the storm,Or in consequence flame be crushed,
The fire is lost as the land reforms,
Hope be left on the hopeless,
Rather than the world becomes breathless.
The Oracle then promptly passed out, two campers catching her.
Calypso's eyes shot open.
----------
Leo groaned in frustration as he threw away another failed project. Sure, a lot of the time his projects were failures, but this was another level of messing up. Leo was sure he used to be able to make a simple holographic message.
He kept his head in his hands, wondering why he wasn't able to make anything. He wasn't even able to make a simple drone. He decided to try to calm himself down with something basic. Something he could never mess up.
But he just lay on the ground, looking at the note in his hands, and throwing it away. He smacked himself in the head, and got up, trying for the millionth time to not mess up his demigod-proof phone. Festus had been shut down for repairs, but Leo was scared that he would accidentally end up cutting a wrong wire or doing some irreparable damage to Festus.
He started re-making the metal frame from celestial bronze. He decided to use the same principles that he had used for the Argo II.
Someone knocked on the door while Leo hammered on the celestial bronze.
"What?" Leo asked, annoyed.
"There's a new prophecy!" Will's voice rang, "And moreover, you should get out. Staying there and starving yourself really isn't going to do anything!"
"I don't give a damn, Solace, and I'm not starving myself. I just have a new project to work on."
"I'm not dumb, you're obviously lying. Now come out, or I'll personally drag you out of there."
Leo sighed, before keeping his project- which he hadn't messed up so far- down and heading out. There, he faced an angry Will Solace. Leo would admit, he was surprised that Nico wasn't there too.
"Do I have to go?" Leo pouted.
"Yes." Will said, not amused.
"Ugh, okay. But I'm not hungry," he whined.
"Shut up. You're not hungry but I am." Will rolled his eyes, and gestured for Leo to follow.
While eating, Leo asked about the prophecy, because he was curious. Worried? Not so much. Hopefully, this prophecy would take a millenia to be fulfilled. Of course he didn't say that though, even the dumbest demigod (excluding Octavian) wouldn't have jinxed it.
"Well..." Will shifted uncomfortably.
"Why d'you look so weird, Solace?" he asked.
"The prophecy has a few lines mentioning fire," Nico said, "And... they're not really nice."
Leo sighed, "Of course. Well, I'm all about not nice, so kindly say the prophecy."
Nico repeated the prophecy, which he had somehow remembered, "One shall venture alone,
Meets two more only to fall in the dome,
Encounter will, one who is lost,
But to win the war, find the must,
The one who's eyes show the storm,
Or consequence the flame will be crushed,
The fire is lost as the land reforms,
All the hope is left on the hopeless,
Rather than the world becomes breathless."
Leo whistled once Nico was done, attracting the attention of several campers, "Man, di Angelo, you've got some good memory."
He rolled his eyes in response.
The rest of the time, they all joked- sometimes Nico would hit Leo for making a witty joke about him and Will- not even caring that there was a prophecy.
By the end of the day, Leo couldn't exactly say that he was the happiest, but he felt much more focused. He went in Bunker 9, deciding to sleep there and resume his project in the morning.
[A/N: Okay, this is a pretty trash chapter, but like, why not. Once I complete this story I'm probably going to rewrite it- not deleting this one obviously- with better transitions between scenes, more realistic stuff, and all. So yeah, I think I'll try to publish faster, but it never works, so don't trust me on it.
And if I don't update fast, it's because I'm actually writing several fanfics, books, and all at once because I have too many ideas.
And no, Leico or Valdangelo is not happening. I just like the idea of the two of them being close friends. And who is included in that dam long prophecy? I'm not telling.
Also, check out the song Day of the Battle by Jonas Myrin- We need to start a petition for that to be Leo's theme song.
So this is it for this chapter and see ya later, little cupcakes (I'm just callin' you all that for no reason and I'll continue to do so with other random names XD)
