The weekend passed with the blink of an eye and once again it was freaking Monday, much to your dismay. You had stayed over with Zoro for one night after your activities, but had to come back to your place at Sunday night so that you'd get everything ready to go back to the university. Zoro had cuddled with you and treated you sweetly the whole time. It felt like knowing that you had lasted through four months of breakup made you inseparable. He had actually thrown a childish fit over you leaving him for the night, nagging on you and trying to convince you to stay at his place. It was cute, but you really had to come back home at some point.

It was even more ridiculous once you left his apartment and found out you lived literally a block away from him. You hadn't been able to notice that in your drunken state, but now it would be very useful for your hopefully usual encounters.

"Hi (Y/N)!"

To your surprise, your parents had hopped over today after class to come see you. This wasn't a normal occurrence, and it always meant that something was up with them, but you weren't going to squeeze the information out. They'd probably go straight to the point. They didn't really care about your life other than how you influenced their appearance.

"Hey mom." You said, a lot less falsely enthused than your mother.

"So I heard you broke up with Law." She kept on her sweet cynical smile as she took a hold of your hands, pressing them tightly with her own.

Oh yeah! I've been great! how have you freaking been?!

"Uh, yeah." Pushing your upset thoughts aside, you followed through with her game, letting her come in and closing the door after your father.

"Why?" She asked, voice getting higher as the conversation went on.

You knew it'd be a problem for her that you broke up with your to-be-rich boyfriend, but you never thought she'd get like this. She looked like she had lost her temper and was acting like a freaking harpy.

"We didn't like each other, mom." You sighed, regretting even opening the door to this woman. Of course she hadn't come to check in on you. She had come to shame the fuck out of you and make you feel like scum now that your boyfriend and probably to-be husband was a man that came from rubble.

"He was going to marry you." Scoffed your father, sitting down in one of your couches as if he owned the place.

Since your parents were rich people they generally acted like that around other more normal people. No, not generally. Always. It annoyed the hell out of you, but you considered yourself lucky enough to not have to endorse this attitude through your entire life, given that you barely even saw them when they had an event were they could show off their daughter. The rest of your childhood you spent with Newgate, the man who you considered your real father.

"No he wasn't." You frowned. "We never liked each other, much less even thought about marri-" You stopped in your tracks, finally understanding why your parents cared so much about this. "Did you ask him to ask me to marry me?" You growled, fisting your hands as you tried to control your angered breathing.

"Not at all." Your mother smiled at you sourly.

Of course they did.

"It just happens that he asked your father for your hand. That's how we know." She gritted her teeth and sent your father a look that told him to stay shut and let her take the lead of all of this.

"This is ridiculous. I don't know where your obsession to meddle in my romantic life has come from, but I'm with Zoro now, so please understand that he is the man I love and I won't change that." You said proudly, standing straight and defying your parents with a harsh and steady look. That was how things were, and even if they decided to throw you to the streets you'd stay with Zoro. He was your happiness and you were his.
