You walked back down to the main floor of the building and Law took you to his car. A comfortable and private space for you to talk at, yet not overstepping the boundaries to take you out to a coffee shop or the park. It was fine.
"I'm sorry I popped up like this. I heard about your parents and I wanted to check on you."
"Oh, that's very sweet of you, Law. Thank you. I'm fine. I could be better I guess, but yeah. I'm fine. And I'm sorry they forced you on the marriage thing and everything, it must have sucked for you."
"It wasn't that bad." He mumbled. You sat in an uncomfortable silence for a couple of minutes, but it was clear to you that Law wanted to talk about something else, so you simply waited for him to just spit it out. Like you suspected, he cleared his throat and continued. "(Y/N), I feel like we didn't finish off very great."
"No, we did not."
"And I do care about you, so I want to at least be your friend."
"Law, I-"
"Please, (Y/N). I fucked up badly and I know it, but I really don't want to lose you." He finally looked at you into your eyes, his own grayish ones looking at you with sadness and regret.
"Law... I don't understand, didn't my parents threaten you to date me?" You asked confusedly, feeling your heart empty.
Is he really suffering from this so much?
"No. The beginning of our relationship was real." He murmured. "I'm sorry things went the way they did. I really thought we'd get..."
You stared at him with a worried frown. Did he actually want to get married? Well, it didn't matter anymore. Things were the way they were. You loved Zoro and things with Law wouldn't have ever worked out. You weren't meant to be. Still, that doesn't mean you didn't care for him. Seeing him broken like this broke your heart.
"I had no idea you felt this way, Law." You mumbled. "I'm sorry, but I'm with Zoro now." You said softly, looking at him. His gaze lowered a little bit, avoiding your eyes. He didn't want you to see him like this. He felt ridiculously stupid. "We can always be friends, though. Law, I still care for you. I don't think we would've ever worked out as a couple, but I'm incredibly happy that you can still be my friend." You smiled brightly, taking his hand in yours and giving it a reassuring squeeze.
He chuckled, kissing the top of your hand.
"That damn muscle brain better make you happy." He mumbled, playful smirk reappearing on his lips.
"He does, Law."
"Alright." He sighed, closing his eyes and leaning his head back to his seat. "I just wanted to see if maybe I still stood a-"
"No, Law. I'm really sorry you feel this way."
He groaned, still not looking at you:
"When you're ready to be friends, just text me. I know you are great friends with Luffy as well so it shouldn't be hard for us to meet again, right?" You giggled, trying to alleviate the weight from all of this.
He chuckled, nodding his head and finally thanking you for letting him speak to you. A couple of minutes later you were back in your front door, lifting your fisted hand to knock on your door as it rapidly opened. Zoro quickly hugged you tightly and dragged you back inside while you were still in his warm strong arms.
"What did he want?" He grumbled, sitting on the couch and hugging you as if you were a teddy bear. You giggled and snuggled closer to him, arms snaking through his waist while your legs accommodated themselves so that you'd be sat more comfortably, still on his lap.
