"Stop it, Zoro." You frowned, seeing he had taken your hand in his and wouldn't let you go.

"Let me explain."

"You should sleep." You mumbled softly, kissing his cheek and trying to get up.

"You know we have to talk. Let's talk."

You stayed quiet.

"(Y/N)..."

"Alright." You mumbled, letting him nuzzle you back into his body. He kissed your forehead and whispered a soft thank you.

"I'm sorry for what I did on Monday. I was stupid."

"And a jerk." You added.

"Yes. A huge one. And asshole."

"Yeah." You giggled softly.

"But there's an explanation, (Y/N)."

"Explain away."

He chuckled, pulling your face up closer to his so that he could get a better look at you. Although his entire body was stiff, he could still move his arms around freely, a perfect tool to keep you in place.

"Well, about an hour before you texted me your parents had come over." He frowned, tightening his grip on your waist. The wind blew outside your window, noise scaring you and making you jump softly. Zoro laughed and held you tighter. "They told me to leave you alone."

"Why?" You lifted your body from the bed, torso now hovering on top of him to get a better look at his eye.

"Because they wanted to marry you off to Law."

You scoffed.

Stupid asshole rich people. Fuck them.

"But why did you follow through?"

"Because, (Y/N), they were going to leave you with nothing. They would've cut you off completely."

"So what?"

"What do-" His reply was interrupted by a hiss, feeling like maybe you were right when you said that he should sleep. This wasn't the time to talk and he definitely was in need of some rest.

"Does it hurt?" You calmed down and looked at him worriedly. He nodded taking a sharp breath. He had gotten a little too excited with the conversation and the wounds at his chest were killing him.

"I'm sorry, I shouldn't get riled up. This fucking wasn't your fault." You laid back into the crook of his neck and delivered sweet kisses. "Go to sleep Zoro, I'll wake you up later for your pill, yeah?"

"Alright." He mumbled, already dozing off.

Given that, unlike Zoro, you weren't dozed up with sedatives that would allow you to fall asleep in a second, you stayed wide awake. Looking at his body, your chest clenched. The dried blood on his bandages was turning maroon, the same thing happening on his face as well. It saddened you to see him like this and you still had many things to ask him about, but he was probably exhausted and in pain, so you had to wait.

Nuzzling even further into his neck, you felt your body finally relax completely. He was here and safe. You'd keep him safe. Your touch on him was graceful and delicate, having to be careful not to cause him any pain. The wind kept on making the windows rattle softly, the sound finally lulling you into a quick nap.
