Eliza stood in the kitchen, making cookies. She didn't have any reason to be making cookies; she felt like it. Then, her husband, Alex, walked in.

Alex hugged his wife from behind, " What are you making?"

"Cookies"

"Can I have some?"

"Only if you help me bake them."

"Deal."

And in an instant, Alex was by Eliza's side. Then, Eliza remembered that Alex can't bake for the life of him.

It ended up going like so:

"Alex, be a dear and sift the flour, " Eliza asked Alex.

"Okay, I got the flour. What's sifting?"

Eliza let out a sigh and showed Alex how to sift the flour.

Step-by-step she showed Alex how to make cookies. By the time they finished, the kitchen was a mess.

"At least the dough still tastes good, " Eliza said, eating the cookie dough.

Alex tried some, " You're right, this isn't half bad. Plus, now I know how to bake."

"Yep," said Eliza promising herself that she wouldn't let him put that to the test.

A few weeks later, Eliza was asleep in bed when Alex woke her up.

"Hi, darling, I made you breakfast in bed, " Alex told her. Sure enough, when she looked, Alex was holding a plate of pancakes and some coffee.

"Aw, thanks, Alex. What's the occasion? " she asked.

"No occasion, I just wanted to surprise you. "
Eliza smiled at him and took a bit of her pancake. She gagged at how bad it was.

Like I said, even with that one baking lesson, Alex can't bake for the life of him.
