Dedicated to my book loving grandfather who left us and who I luckily got to read the first two chapters to.

I crouched on the limb. The bark feels nice under my claws. It was rough but soft and my claws sunk into it easily as I get into a pouncing stance. The moon is bigger tonight. Almost as if it is trying to get a closer view of Earth. My prey is clueless of its stalker. The doe is just below me eating grass next to a beautiful pond. I shifted me weight and adjusted my self right before I let out a yowl and dropped on the doe's back. The doe froze in fear just long enough for my to snap it's neck. The body fell with a soft thud in the grass. I stood up proud of my handiwork. Lifting it up on my shoulders I walked to a cave a little while away from the kill spot. I heard the voices of my family inside. Walking in with the doe still with me I called out a greeting.

"I'm back and I brought food!" I was nearly tackled by my little siblings.

"Food?"

"I want some!"

"Can we eat it now?"

"I'll get momma!"

They were so exited to see fresh meat. We haven't had meat much less fresh meat in months.

"Get mother and we'll cook it." They all scampered of to get the fire ready and the dishes out. Setting the deer down I walked into the den to see my mother walk in.

"Oh Allie baby your such a wonderful hunter. The kids are so exited and happy. I'm so proud of you." My mother said with truth and kindness sparkling in her eyes.

"Thank you mother, ill get the doe ready to eat." After the food was cooked we sat down and ate. We all sat in a circle around the fire.

Mother was on my right. She has beautiful green eyes that sparkled with wisdom and curly hair down to her waist. Her hair is such a dark brown it looked black at first glance. She's skinny with a gorgeous face. I would do anything for her I loved her so much.

On my left is the second oldest, me being the oldest. Kristianna is fourteen. She has brown hair that's straight and comes down to her waist as well. She has green eyes like mother. She's looks like our dad more than mom. Her hair isn't nearly as dark as mom's and she is Sturdier.

On the right of mom is the third oldest Jacob. He is ten with short dirty blond hair. Even though he is only ten he is bigger built. His eyes are a deep blue with thick eyelashes. He is really handsome.

On Kristianna's left is Brianna. she has a very small petite body for a eight year old. She has green eyes along with mom and kristi. Her hair is the same color as Kristianna's and comes down to her mid back.

Lastly between Brianna and Jacob is Nicholas. He is the youngest of us. He has short blonde hair that needs a trim and sticks up in places and crystal clear blue eyes. He's only six and already looks exactly like dad.

Our father is dead. A pack of shifters killed him because of what we are.

We're cats. But only half cat. We have cat ears, tails, claws, eyes, and senses.

My mother has black cat ears and tail. Kristianna has white, Brianna has black, Jacob has gray, and Nicholas has white. I have gray with white and black specks. I was a weird mix of it all. Our dad had white and gray.

After we were done eating I cleaned and put the dishes away. (which were actually flat rocks with an indention in the middle.) I stored the rest of the meat somewhere safe and tucked the younger kids to bed.

Looking at my self in the little handheld mirror that we had I thought of how different I am. I am eighteen with long dark brown hair with natural blonde highlights. Unusually I have turquoise eyes with gold flecks in them, but my eyes change colors. My mom said I was beautiful but I think I was no prettier than my sisters. I climbed in to my own straw bed and fell into a nightmare like every other night
