Broken Pasts (Loki x OC)

Steve knows how much Epins parents mean to her and how her biggest rule is 'no talking about them'. As he arrives at Loki's cell he is furious, he was not about to let Loki disrespect someone he saw as a little sister like that. The view of Loki smuggly sitting on the ground of his cell, making small objects around the room levitate just about made Steve scream.

"What did you say to Epin?" Steve says approaching the glass with a high temper.

"I said nothing that would cause such anger from such a small person." Loki simply responds with no emotion present in his voice besides amusement.

"Rule number one when it comes to Epin, never and I mean never mention her parents if you want to live." Steve practically growls at Loki. The threat made an amused Loki stand up and move towards steve.

"Why should I follow your rules, Mortal?" He taunts the avenger.

"Because she will kill you in an instant. You have no idea who she is, what she has been through, of what she is capable of. so watch your mouth around her. I say this for your safety Loki. Epin is currently the only one besides Thor who doesn't see you as a mistake so I would stay on her good side if you want out of here." Steve exits without another word, leaving a stunned Loki to his thoughts.

Loki can't help but feel slightly bad for what he had caused in the one person who did not hate him here. He closed his eyes and tried to remember what he saw in Epins head. He remembers seeing her family there one day and then gone the next. Something happened. He remembers seeing how Epin sees him as just another lost soul not a monster. He immediately pulls himself away from her memories and feels a wave of sorrow fill him. Epin was right. He was beyond lost.

The next morning Epin teleported into Loki's cell to find him asleep on the floor. For a split second she admired him, how peaceful he looked and how for once, he wasn't trying to put up a front of evil and mysterious.

"Get up!" Epin says loudly, making Loki jolt from his sleeping position. He turns to the source of the noise to see Epin standing in his cell looking unimpressed with him. Loki can see it in her eyes that she is colder and more closed off than she was yesterday. He knows he is walking on thin ice already with Epin.

"I had a talk with your mortal friend. Steve was it?" Loki attempts to start a conversation but she shows no intention of responding as she stares at him with a completely blank face. So Loki adds to his first comment "He enlightened me on something and I wanted to....um....apologize for saying such things about your mother and father yesterday." As his words leave his mouth, he can see Epins eyes soften. She looks away from Loki as if trying to prevent herself from showing her emotions to him.

"Okay." She states coldly yet she deeply appreciates the apology. It's not everyday you see Loki apologizing to people so she knows he meant it at least a little.

"I too have family troubles." Loki says, surprising himself. He didn't even realize he had said it until the words were all out in the air. Epin eyes him suspiciously before making a reply.

"I know, I am quite close with your brother."

Loki rolls his eyes. "He is not my brother."

"Thor sure thinks you are his brother." Epin states clearly not understand how someone could not accept a sibling the way Loki has. He simply scoffs from his seated position and they remain in silence for a good few minutes. It is like there is nothing right to say at this particular moment. Epin sits at the opposite end of the cell from Loki and she stares down at the lines in the floor as Loki tries to occupy himself with images of him sitting on the throne back in asgard. It wasn't long before Loki could not take his imagination any longer and he moved his eyes to Epin who remained staring aimlessly at the floor. He realizes she is the most beautiful person he has ever seen out of all the realms. In order to shake the thought from his mind he attempts at conversation again.
