I sat in my room, watering the several bonsai's that I had received from Mr Miyagi, humming to some music when there was a knock on my door. "Come in." I called, sitting up. My mother peaked her head through the door.
"How was your date?" She asked, her tone of voice off.
"It was great. I had a really good time." I replied, sitting on the edge of my bed.
"That's nice." I nodded, tapping my foot. "The Mills invited us to the country club on Saturday."
"That was nice of them." She nodded, and I could tell she was about to say something.
"You know, I think Johnny's gonna be there." I bit my tongue, blinking a bit. "I think you should give him another chance." I rolled my eyes, standing up."Mom, we broke up for a reason. He kissed Ali on my 15th birthday. You really think I should get back with him?" I grabbed my sneakers, and shoved them into my bag.
"We all make mistakes when we're teenagers." I shook my head, annoyed and surprised.
"I can't even deal with this right now." I scoffed, throwing my bag over my shoulder.
"Where are you going?" She asked as I walked out of my room."I'm going to hang out with Mr Miyagi since he actually understands me." She shook her head.
"I don't like you spending all of your time with him." I rolled my eyes, making my way to the door.
"Marie, all I'm saying is just consider it. I want you to do better." I turned to look at her.
"I just wanna be happy. And I really like Daniel. He's treated me better than Johnny ever did, and I don't care what his money status is. You never know how someone will turn out." That's all I said before walking out, down the stairs and past the pool.
I made my way to Mr Miyagi's door, walking through only to be met by an empty room. I sighed, groaning in defeat. "Figures." I muttered, walking out of the office. I looked around, spotting my bike against Mr Miyagi's window.
I hopped on, beginning to pedal off towards Mr Miyagi's house.

I arrived at Mr Miyagi's house, leaning my bike against the broken gate. I walked up the deck, opening the door where Mr Miyagi was. "Hello Mr Miyagi." I said, walking inside.
"Morning Marie-san." He replied, busying himself with his meditation.
"Where's Daniel?" I asked, crossing my arms a little.
"Daniel-san out sanding." I nodded, making my way to the door.
"Wait Marie-san. Practice technique, then go see Daniel-san." I nodded, walking over towards Mr Miyagi. I bowed before getting into my fighting stance, preparing myself.
Mr Miyagi's hand shot out, but I blocked it quickly, smacking it away from my face. His other hand shot out again, but once again, I blocked it. "Good." Mr Miyagi said, nodding.
I stayed focused, keeping my breathing steady as I continued to block strikes, focusing on anything besides what my mother said.

3rd POV
Daniel was exhausted as he stopped, taking a breather from the sanding. He heard something from inside Mr Miyagi's house, peaking his curiosity. He stood up, wiping sawdust off of his pants as he walked towards Mr Miyagi's door, opening it slightly and peaking inside.
His eyes landed on the same beautiful red head that he was with last night, her long red hair in a ponytail as she blocked Mr Miyagi's attacks. Daniel watched in wonder, as her arms moved quickly to block Mr Miyagi's attacks, before pulling back to defend her face.
Neither Mr Miyagi nor Marie knew Daniel was there, too focused on their practice. Daniel was almost mesmerized by the fluid movements of both Mr Miyagi and Maire.
"Good job, Marie-san. Done practice." Marie nodded, shaking out her hands. Suddenly, another attack lashed towards her, which she blocked quickly. Mr Miyagi smiled, nodding as she bowed.
"You improve Marie-san. Good job." Marie smiled brightly, before heading towards the door. She opened it quickly, moving out onto the deck. Daniel was back to sanding, trying to look like he wasn't aware she was there. "Hey stranger." She smiled, plopping herself down next to Daniel.
"Hey Marie. How are you doing?" He asked, still busy sanding.
"Fine, how about you?" Daniel chuckled as a response.
"Probably as good as it looks." Marie smiled, her legs dangling over the decks.
"It seems bad, but it'll get better, I promise." Marie looking down at the koi pond, watching the fish swim around.
Daniel stopped, his eyebrows furrowing as he looked over at Marie. "Are you okay?" Marie nodded, still looking down.
"It's just my mom. She was giving me a hard time earlier. One of the reasons I came here." Daniel looked at her, almost debating with himself before speaking.
"I'm sorry about that. It was probably my fault." Marie looked up, shaking her head.
"Nah, she'd be giving me a hard time if I was dating anyone she didn't approve of." Daniel smiled as Marie looked up at him, smiling at him softly.
"Daniel-san! Keep sanding." Marie laughed a little as Daniel rolled his eyes with a smile before turning back to sand.
"Just remember, it's worth it." Marie gave him a smile as she pulled herself up, walking down the desk and over to a bonsai, grabbing a pair of clippers and beginning to trim.

Marie POV
I set down the clippers, stretching my arms and rolling my shoulders with a yawn. I looked over my shoulder, glancing over and finding Daniel was right by Mr Miyagi's door. It was dark outside, surprising me a little bit, before standing up.
"You done Daniel-san?" Mr Miyagi opened his door and stepped through, standing in a tank top.
"Yes." Daniel sounded exhausted as he held his shoulder, rolling it.
"Any splinters?" Mr Miyagi ran his foot against the wood, checking for any splinters.
"No." Daniel replied.
"Good." Daniel stood up, shaking out his arm. "Come back early tomorrow. 8 o'clock." And with that, Mr Miyagi walked inside, closing the door.
Daniel looked at me, confused. I shook my head with a shrug. "Come on, I'm sure that you're tired, let's just go home." Daniel nodded, tired. I wrapped an arm around his shoulder, pulling him into Mr Miyagi's front yard.
"You did a good job with that sanding." Daniel smiled, looking at me.
"Thanks. Although, I don't understand what this has to do with karate." I smiled.
"You'll see." I replied, grabbing my bike. Daniel grabbed his bike and began to pedal off. I followed behind, catching up to him easily.
