"Hey, I saw you and Mr Miyagi training earlier." I looked at him slightly surprised, leaving my bike against the front gate.
"Oh. I didn't know you saw that." I replied, making my way to the stairs.
"Yeah. It looked really cool." I smiled at him. "When do you think Mr Miyagi will teach me?" I stopped at the top of the stairs.
"Soon, I swear. Just give it some time. There's a reason for what he's having you do." I smiled, patting his shoulder. Daniel smiled in response before kissing my cheek.
"Thanks. I'll see you tomorrow." I waved goodbye before walking to my apartment, walking inside with a smile.
"Where have you been?" My smile fell as I closed the door, clenching my jaw.
"With Mr Miyagi and Daniel, like I said. We just ran late, I'm sorry." My mother rolled her eyes as I passed by.
"I told you that I didn't like you hanging out with those two." I sighed, shaking my head.
"Who would you rather I hung out with?" I shot back, crossing my arms.
"How about kids your age?" I raised an eyebrow.
"Daniel is my age." I replied, a sarcastic smile on my face.
"I mean girls your age." She said, making me scoff a bit.
"News flash, girls my age, besides Ali and a few others, don't really like me. I'm too different." My mother shook her head.
"They don't think that." I sighed, shaking my head. I swallowed slightly, holding back tears.
"How would you know? You're always gone!" I exclaimed, tears brimming in my eyes. My mother looked hurt, sadness on her face. "You're never here when I need you, and you're never here in general!"
"That's not fair." She responded, her lips in a fine line.
"I know it's been hard since dad died, but I rarely see you anymore! You're always busying yourself with work! You're always gone, and I don't have anyone to talk to. I've been lonely, and you wonder why I spend time with Mr Miyagi." I could feel my tears beginning to fall down my face, but I wiped them away quickly. My mother was quiet, as I failed to keep my tears at bay. "I'm...sorry." She said after a few minutes. I shook my head as I wiped away a few more tears.
"It doesn't matter." I replied, sniffing slightly. I opened the door, and walked out, shutting the door behind me. I walked down that stairs, sighing as I wiped a few tears away. I sat at the bottom of the stairs, quietly.
I held my legs to my chest, resting my chin on my knees as I listened to the cars driving by. I didn't know what I was going to do, I just decided to sit there.
I could feel my heart racing, as I took a few deep breaths, burying my face into my knees, a few sobs breaking through as tried to catch my breath.
"I wish you were here, Dad." I whispered, my voice breaking ever so slightly.

"This is stupid." I muttered, standing in front of Daniel's door. My face was wet with tears, but I didn't care, I just need Daniel's help. I sighed, biting my lip before tapping my foot. I took a deep breath, checking my watch. I doubted he was awake, biting my lip. It was around 1 am, and somehow I had been outside for an hour.
"Screw it." I muttered before knocking on the door. I hit it three times, before waiting patiently. I was anxious as I checked my watch, feeling like I was waiting there forever, although it was probably three minutes. I heard footsteps inside before I heard the lock twist, and the door opened.
Daniel stood in the doorway, his hand on the door as he held it open. He was wearing a simple tank top and sweatpants, and his hair was sticking out in a few different directions. "Good Morning?" He asked, a little confused.
"Um, hey, can I crash here?" I asked, clearing my throat as I held back tears. Daniel seemed confused, but without an explanation, he let me inside.
"Are you okay?" Daniel asked as he closed the door behind me. I didn't respond, I just turned around and hugged him. I felt a few tears spill out as I held him tight. Daniel tightly hugged me back, resting his arms around me.
"Hey, relax. It's gonna be ok." He comforted, rubbing my back as he held me. It took awhile for me to stop crying, I was overwhelmed and exhausted by the end.
"Do you wanna talk about it?" Daniel and I sat on his bed, I was resting my head in his shoulder, taking a few deep breaths as I calmed down. I nodded, raising my head before leaning forwards.
"My mom got upset with me when I got back, and we got into a really bad argument. It didn't end well." I sniffed a bit, looking at my feet. "Ever since my dad died, my mom and I got really distant. It's just been so hard." I rested my elbows on my knees, rubbing my eyes.
Daniel rested a hand on my back, patting it softly. "I'm sorry about that." I gave him a sad smile, before looking down again.
"She just has a problem with me hanging out with you and Mr Miyagi. I don't understand why." Daniel pulled me into a hug, rubbing my shoulders. I closed my eyes softly, taking a few deep breaths.
"Do you wanna lay down?" I nodded, exhausted. I opened my eyes, laying down next to Daniel with a sigh. He held me tight, as I rested my head against his chest, closing my eyes again. "I'm really sorry that I'm causing you problems." I opened my eyes, looking at him sadly.
"Well, I've gotten you in lots of trouble, so I guess that we're even. It's my fault you have to do this stupid tournament, and the fact that Johnny went after you." Daniel kissed my forehead gently, resting on his elbows.
"Well, then I guess we're even." I shook my head with a small smile, resting my head against his chest again.
"Good night, Daniel." I felt his arms wrap around me tighter as he rested his face in the crook of my neck.
"Good night, Marie."
