I knew that I was lost as soon as I had gone down the first set of stairs. They had begun to shift and I lost track of where I was. I guess that was my breaking point and I began to cry. I tried to muffle my sobs with my hands but I was too beaten, and I could hear my whimpers echo down the dark hall.

'what are you doing here, Edwards?' said a cold voice in the dark

'I- uh, sorry I'll go back to my dorm' I replied in a small voice, trying to pretend I wasn't crying in order to avoid questions

'I heard you cry' the voice said, more softly this time

'Malfoy?' I asked bewildered. What was he doing at this time down the halls of the castle? I guess I was looking just as suspicious.

'yeah it's me' he replied, there was no trace of bitterness in his voice this time 'want to tell me what's wrong?'

'I think it's better I go' I said standing up from where I had been sitting the last few minutes. This was the last thing I needed, an encounter with Malfoy after having an argument with both of the twins. I realised that we were now face to face, the moonlight revealed part of his pale face, his piercing blue eyes staring right at mine.

'look y/n, the first day was just friendly banter, right?' he said 'you can trust me. I like your attitude anyways, would've made a great Slytherin' he added

'Draco, look it's not that easy. You bullied my friends in the past and you keep doing it. I can't just go telling you what my personal problems are because you obviously haven't resolved your own' I said lowly

Draco just stared at me. Our eyes were still locked but without hostile intent. He didn't reply to what I had just said.

'follow me' he said, he outstretched his hand, signalling me to hold it. I reluctantly grabbed it and he began guiding me up stairs. I wasn't sure what was going on and why I had decided to follow him, I guess that he looked more vulnerable without his gang of bodyguards that he called 'friends'. After a few minutes we were climbing metallic stairs that lead to a tower with a banister circling it.

'This is the Astronomy Tower' Draco stated, breaking the silence 'I come here to clear my head'

'it's lovely' I said. I really meant it, the moon was almost full and it was a clear night. I could see all the stars and the schoolyard that was illuminated by the beam of the moon. I held on the railing, feeling the chilly air run through my neck.

'Draco, do you need to talk?' I asked him softly

He didn't reply, instead he began approaching me slowly. I began to feel uncomfortable. I just realised I was all alone with Malfoy and I didn't know my way back.

'what are you doing?' I said cautiously, stepping back

He still didn't answer, instead, he ran his icy finger through the chain around my neck and mumbled 'pretty' while doing so. I pushed him away.

'stay away from me Malfoy' I warned him

However, he had ignored my request and grabbed the chain, yanking it off my neck. Leaving a burning sensation on my neck. I let out a yelp of pain, my eyes burning from newly surging tears.

'give it back' I sobbed 'please'

'maybe next time you'll know better than to mess with me' he said coldly 'consider this a warning'. He turned on his heel and left the tower, with my chain that carried my mums wedding ring. Leaving me on the floor sobbing.
