But you can bet before we're through
Mister, I'll make a man out of you
(i'm sorry, this song just suits this chapter XD)Upon finishing my food (which was actually not bad, but it wasn't great either) and water and chatting with Rex and Cody for a bit, I heard a beeping sound and I looked at them both, waiting for them to answer.
"Uh..are you gonna answer that or..?" I began looking at them in confusion. "That's coming from you." Cody pointed out, nodding his head toward my wrist. I looked down, seeing it blink and I rolled my eyes.
"Right. I forgot Obi-Wan gave me a comm." I mumbled, excusing myself and walking away to answer. "Obi-Wan?"
: Kayla, I need you to meet me on the bridge instead of the training room. I'll explain everything when you arrive. : Obi-Wan responded while I rose an eyebrow. "Um..oh-kay. I'm on my way."
After the line ended, I went back towards Rex and Cody, who were still talking amongst each other. Oh, the bromance is so real between those two. I love them so much!
"Hey, can you guys tell me where the bridge is? I'm meeting Obi-Wan there." I asked when I was arms length away from them. "I'll show you, I have to head there anyway." Rex offered, excusing himself from Cody and walking away with me hot at his heels.
"So..what's it like? The training?" Rex asked out of nowhere. I rose an eyebrow at him before shrugging, he was probably just curious. "It's a bit overwhelming at first, but once you get use to it, its not bad at all. Why?"
"I heard a lot of Padawans get wore out to the point they could fall in a deep sleep if given a break." Rex explained while I laughed a bit. "I'm a little worn out, but its not that bad."
"Well, you guys have it easy, actually." Rex said, my eyes shifting into a confused gaze. "What do you mean by that?"
"Our training wasn't as complex as yours. We trained from dawn till dusk, got only a couple breaks. And our training wasn't easy either. There were some obstacles we had to face that we weren't even prepped for, but we had to do it because one day, we'll face it. Even if we're not prepared."
"That sounds intense, Rex." I said, looking at him with a nervous look. "Yeah, it was. But, I think I turned out okay." Rex replied, rolling my eyes and shaking my head. Yep, that's the Rex I know. Funny thing is, just yesterday he was stone cold and a time bomb waiting to go off anytime, but now, he's different. Was it from the small conversation we had yesterday? Or maybe he knew that everything I said was the truth and he's letting his guard down a bit? I wasn't sure, though I kind of hope he doesn't let his guard down.
Anything could happen and I don't want him or anyone else I meet, that lets their guard down, getting hurt. I don't exactly have a guard with these guys because come on...I've seen the show, I know how they are. But there's a wall there. And when its ready to come down, it will come down.
Until then, its up.
"Hey. We're here." Rex called, pulling me out my thoughts as I concentrated on the doors sliding open and it revealed Obi-Wan talking to the Jedi Council. "Thanks, Rex. I owe you one."
"Don't mention it." Rex walked to another part of the room and watched as he did. Man, can that beautiful clone strut. I shook my head, wondering what the heck I thought of that for and approached Obi-Wan who just mentioned that I arrived.
"Hello, Masters." I greeted, not exactly sure how to greet them. I only knew this because of the show.
:Polite one is the child, hmm? : Yoda slightly joked, myself unnoticeably rolling my eyes. "Yes, she is. Kayla, I was just informing the Council of your progress."
: And we wish for you to continue that progress at the Jedi Temple. : I heard Mace Windu say, causing my eyes to go wide. "Wha..? Really?"
"You will make better progress at the Temple with all members of the Jedi Council. There will be tests and it is better to execute them there than here in the training room." Obi-Wan explained, myself thinking about it, knowing he was right. "Okay, when will I start up again?"
: As soon as you arrive. : Windu replied, myself sighing quietly. Obi-Wan noticed it, though. How? I have no idea, but he did. "We're a few parasecs away from Coruscant and should be there shortly."
: Good. We will be waiting. : The link ended and I took my attention to Obi-Wan just as he turned to me. "Something on your mind, young one?"
"Its just..being a Jedi takes a lot of skill. Which means a lot of training. I signed up for this when I walked through that portal, so I have to do what's necessary." I explained, Obi-Wan nodding in understanding.
"This may seem a lot now, Kayla, but in the end, it'll all be worth it." Obi-Wan assured, making me feel a little bit better. "You may want to go get some rest before we land. You won't get a choice once we do."
I nodded, walking off the bridge and heading straight for my spare room.
----"Do you think she can handle it, sir?" Rex asked as soon as Kayla left. Obi-Wan looked to the Captain before looking to the door the young girl had just left through and sighed.
"Honestly, Captain, I'm not sure. But, I have faith that she will. She has a strong mind and a brave heart. She can do this if she just believes it herself."
