Leyland Adventures Chapter Twelve: Part Three
Lennon uncovered his eyes to see warming sunshine shoot through the window. Groaning, he turned sluggishly to his phone. Swarms of alerted messages flooded his phone, especially those from Tysashi's female companions. Anger boiled within him as he scrolled through the messages, not replying to a single one.
"Most of them don't even text me regularly. As soon as Tysashi's gone, now everyone's looking at me. Damn it, why don't they understand I'm concerned too?!" He roared, resisting the powerful urge to chuck his phone out the window.
He continued swimming through the sea of texts before reaching a message from the professor.
"Morning, Lennon. I know you're experiencing a difficult time, but your assistance is required. Your brother usually spends his time helping out the diverse creatures of Lenovo regularly, but he isn't here. That means you'll have to perform the following tasks."
-Collect Redberries for the Hypogeal Pixies.
-Lead the Blumblooms to a drinking spot safely.
-Help Pelura get pollinated.
-Assist Kablua in finding her children.
Once his eyes finished scanning the text, he sighed defeatedly. "Well, I got nothing better to do, maybe it'll help get my mind off things."
With his decisions set, the younger sibling escaped from his unorganized bed, ignoring the scattered sheets. He reported to the kitchen to prepare the remainder of leftovers for himself. While the morning meal warmed up in the microwave, nostalgic memories of cooking breakfast began to play. Though Tysashi was primarily responsible for crafting meals, Lennon had grown accustomed to sacrificing time for cooking. As the plate spun round and round, he reminded himself. Tysashi never had a problem with composing delicious meals for his brother. Even after exhausting hours spent tending to the creatures of Lenovo, he dedicated his spare time to Lennon.
"Man... how many times has he cooked for me while I've been sitting on my lazy ass? I only cook when I feel like it, and my bro does it regardless. Damn it, how long have I been so blind?! Why was I such a dumbass?! All those other times I cooked don't mean shit!" His heavy fist collided severely with the polished, white granite countertop.
The microwave dinged; his hands squeezed the paper plate as the doorbell sung. "Ugh, who the hell could that be at 8:26 in the morning?" He abandoned the plate on the circular, mirror-like wooden table. Practically dragging himself, the teen detected the princess standing before him. The dangerous glare in her fixed eyes caused his eyebrows to rise while hers weighed down. Her exposed arms were held in a cross.
"What's up with you?" he asked.
"You said Tysashi went for a walk and would let me know when he returned. It's been three days and no updates."
"Well, maybe he just needs more time alone. You can't rush this stuff."
"Lennon, he's never taken this long. I believe a thorough search is necessary, and you must come along."
His heart leaped as she concluded her request. "What, why?"
"I want to ensure you're not pulling a prank on me again as you have a habit of doing so. Also, don't you want to find your brother?" Her eyebrows lifted themselves upward.
"Firstly, it's not a prank. Secondly, I do, but he's- ah nevermind. I can't help you because I gotta do his regular tasks."
"I don't see the issue. I can assist you and we can search together."
"There is an issue; I planned to do it alone."
"Lennon, I'm coming along whether you like it or not." Her eyebrows sunk down again as the volume of her unruffled voice grew.
Without a choice, he yielded to her terms, allowing her inside.
"You can do whatever while I finish eating and showering. My room is off limits. Do you need anything before I go, have you eaten?"
"No, I've eaten, thank you." Nia sat with her back against the wall of the cushiony couch. Her legs were glued together and her hands laid on her lap.
Lennon left the area. Nya placed her vision into a silent, dark void reminiscing about her lover. Perfect memories of Tysashi's chivalry played in her mind for fifteen minutes until Lennon directed her out of memory lane. She awoke to view him in a common outfit; a white t-shirt with the black outline of a dragon made of electricity and a plain pair of cream pants. His hair now straightened and his aroma more pleasant than usual.
"Alright, let's get this over with." He opened the door for the princess. With her outside, he closed the door, heading out to the grasslands.
