Faith:
I lay in my bed looking up at the ceiling. Another boring December.
Nothing much of interests happen in December, except my birthday and Christmas Eve, and if you count new year.
Today is 30th September. I hear my phone ringing which makes me sit up and answer it.
"Hello? " I ask sleepily.
"Hey! " Cassie's enthusiastic voice fills my ears.
"Yes? "I sigh. How is she always so joyful?
"I have really good and exciting news Fai! " I can basically feel the grin in her voice.
"Huh? Go ahead. " I yawn.
"Sh! I have a brilliant idea! "
"Okay, I'm listening.." I answer uninterested. What? I'm not in the mood currently. I promise I'm not that dry.
"I have planned a trip for us during Christmas! " She squeals in my ear causing me to detach my phone from my ear.
"Like, we can go to California! " This however catches my attention.
California.
I've had plenty of memories there. Some which I may not want to remember, but honestly, those were the times. Ever since I moved from Cali to San Francisco, I never kept contact with anyone back there.
Why did I move? Well, I was angry at my parents that they basically controlled me so much that at one point I ran away. Yes. You heard it.
I ran away from home all the way to San Francisco. I wanted a fresh start and it's been 3 years. I am almost finished with university. Infact, it's my last year.
"Hey? You there? " Cassie's voice snaps me out of my past thoughts.
"y-yeah. " I stutter.
"You okay? " Her voice becomes concerned.
"Yeah totally. By the way what were you saying about the trip? " I ask suddenly interested. I miss my parents and my best friend.
"Well, we can go to Cali, tomorrow's flight. " Her voice suddenly excited again.
"tomorrow? " My eyes widen in laziness.
"Yes, tomorrow. Better pack up. "
"What-okay fine. " I try to argue but soon realize it's useless. Sighing I say goodbye to her and she hangs up.
Great. Back to California I go.
Can't wait to see everyone again.
Note the sarcasm.
I stand up from my bed and put my phone back on charger.
I live with Annie. She's not bad, however our schedules are so different that we rarely see each other. She's not that much a problem. We talk, sometimes.
I head to the storage room and take my suitcase out. Jeesh it's heavy and dusty.
I cough and wave my hand in the air to remove the dust hopefully. I drag the suitcase through the living room and into my room where I clean it and start taking my clothes out.
Packing was never hard for me, considering I had to barely pack anything.
I have this nervous feeling deep down my stomach and the voice in my head keeps repeating itself and for me to not go back. I ignore every memory coming and start packing.
Leaving California wasn't easy for me. I never wanted to do it but I realized it was the only way for my freedom. I have -had- really strict parents and they basically controlled my every movement and my entire life. I wouldn't have done it if actually cared or loved me.
Nope. They didn't love or care for me truly. If they did, the least thing they could do was to search or just call me. Like that, days, weeks, months, years have passed by and they never called. I remember coming here, just waiting for them to call me and just tell me to come back, not even apologise just tell me to come back, but no.
Nobody for California tried contacting me. I waited months, crying myself every day. However, soon I realized that if my own parents didn't want to call me, then why would others, and from then on I became independent and lonely.
That's until I met Cassandra, Cassie. It was a year ago but it feels like she was the best friend I had ever since childhood.
That one best friend.
Ryker.
He wasn't just a best friend but my first kiss and crush. I still miss him. I know he would be mad but just texting me wouldn't be that hard.
Why didn't I call? Well, I did. At least tried. Every time I would call someone, it said that there phone was either switched off or they had blocked me. Unbelievable actually.
Just like that, I had disappeared into thin air and nobody noticed. At least that's what it felt like.
Not realising it, I bring my hands up to my face just to feel wetness. I have started crying. I'm not that weak. I wipe my tears and go back to packing again, ignoring everything in my head.
Maybe that's why I don't wanna go back but it's too late now.
I spent the day packing, eating, lazying around and sleeping.
