The Dark Side of the Moon

Chapter 4

"So Lupin, how do you feel about what you just did?" asked Fenrir. "You did yell a lot before killing Pettigrew."

"To be honest. That shit hurt like a bitch. Getting the mark, not killing Peter." replied Remus while rubbing his left forearm.

"Well if you can't handle a little bit of pain, then you shouldn't be here," snapped Vishaka.

"Calm down, Vishaka. You can't be rude to every new recruit." said a young man from behind Vishaka.

Vishaka's face lit up and she went to hug the newcomer. "Jasper! You're back. You don't know how much I missed you."

"I can guess." Jasper said with a chuckle and settling himself down on the chair across from Remus. "I'm Jasper. Jasper Cohen."

Remus' eyes widened with recognition. "You're the one that was on the Daily Prophet because...." Remus trailed off as he saw the look in Vishaka's eyes. "I mean - Why did they do that? You're a muggle."

Jasper laughed a little, "Because I'm a werewolf. Didn't you read the sign."

"No. I saw the headline and decided to skip that page. Didn't feel like reading about how people like me are beasts and such."

Vishaka scoffed. "You have to stop considering yourself as humans. They don't think we're humans, then why should we? We're better than that."

Fenrir decided to intervene before Vishaka could continue. "Well now that Remus has finally joined our ranks, we should tell him how it works, right?" Vishaka just looked away. Jasper got up. "Sure. Let's see what you need to know." Vishaka looked at Jasper like he was crazy. "You're kidding, right? We can't just tell him everything. You all trust him already. All he did was kill Pettigrew. It wasn't even a big thing."

Remus looked really annoyed right now. "Look Vishaka, I know you don't trust me and I can understand that. But I'm done with Dumbledore and the rest of the Order. They literally tried to kill me a few days ago."

"Enough," Greyback shouted. "You two have been fighting ever since Remus got here, so stop. It's giving me a headache. Vishaka, I love you, but you have to stop countering everything Remus says." Vishaka just rolled her eyes. "Are you going to yell at Remus now?"  

Greyback took a deep breath and continued talking "Alright Remus. Every full moon we go out and hunt animals in a nearby forest. We do not attack humans. Sometimes it happens by accident." Fenrir shrugged. "We usually take them in or just leave them there. After the full moon, we get a few potions provided by the Death Eaters. Then we get the usual missions from You-Know-Who and that's about it. The missions don't take long, so after completing them, we just hang out here." 

"So you're not going to yell at Remus. Fine, whatever," Vishaka said while getting up and sitting next to Jasper, glaring at Remus, again.

Remus looked around the room. He then looked back at Fenrir's welcoming, but feral eyes, Jasper's laid back expression, and Vishaka's glare. This is his new life and he was not going to regret a single thing.
