Maggie's Point Of View

"So they just kill whoever they want?" I asked Eleazer and Carmen one day as they sat down on the loveseat. "Huh?" Carmen asked. It took her a few moments to realize that I was still talking and asking about the Volturi. "I'm sorry what?" "Oh great, I'm third-wheeling now," I grumbled as I trudged towards Kate's room, knowing she would talk to me - even if it was just a few sentences. "What's up?" she asked me nonchalantly as she brushed her long blonde hair, "Ever heard of knocking?" she added ever so slightly bitter. She was already in an ugly mood, but why not annoy her? "Yeah Yeah, I have a few questions," I stated plainly. "Now that's, a good reason for why you suddenly slam my door open" she scowled, "What are your questions? And why can't you ask Eleazer? He was a part of the Volturi before you know?"I caught my breath, "What? He was a part of the Voltu-." "What's that sound?" Kate asked, interrupting me and turning towards her window above her bed. Sure enough, I could see a silver Volvo pulling up outside and Tanya, Kate, and I ran outside with Carmen and Elezear a step behind us. "Hey, Edward!" I greeted my cousin enthusiastically. Maybe he'd answer my questions about the Volturi. He ignored me, a common thing that people did to me. "Edward, is everything alright? Why didn't you tell us you were coming?" Tanya asked as Kate and I stood next to her. "Is it Irina? We heard from her," Kate responded. "Not directly." That was all Edward said. "Why is your bride waiting for you in the car?" Eleazer asked after a two-second silence. "Why do you have a dog with you? I can smell him from here," I asked, beyond disgusted, Kate nodded in agreement with me. "My family is in danger. I need your help," Edward finally said, getting to the point of his visit. "What happened?" Carmen asked. "It's hard to explain but I need you to be open-minded. Can you do that?" Edward pleaded as I began tapping my foot in the white snow. "Of course," Tanya replied sweetly. Kate and I rolled our eyes. Bella, the dog, and an immortal child got out of the car. How could Edward ask this from us? We'll all get slaughtered. I may not know much about the Volturi itself but I knew all the rules. Kate stumbled back, grabbed my arm and I gripped onto Tanya's shoulder, pulling her back with me. Everyone gasped. "The Volturi will come for us all," I hissed. "You get that... that thing out of here," Tanya snarled at Edward. I dropped my hands from my curly blonde-haired sister as Kate did the same. "She's not what she looks like," Edward tried to explain. "As if that'll clear up everything," I barked sarcastically as Tanya's eyes glowed with anger. "THIS IS A CRIME," my coven leader screamed before charging forward towards Edward. Edward punched Tanya back into the snow and I ran over to her as Kate glided a foot closer and shocked my cousin. Bella was there suddenly and grabbed my sister, flinging her into the snow, "Stay away," Bella warned us. I helped Kate up from the snow and the three of us jogged back over to where Edward, the dog, Bella, and that... that monstrous child was. "She has blood in her veins. You can feel her warmth," Edward said to us. "I can feel it," Carmen said, still shaking a tiny bit. "I'm her biological father. Bella's the mother," Edward finally explained. "Impossible," I scoffed, aware of my rising fear for my coven. Would we be executed like Tanya's mother? I know how the trial took place, I was there, watching from behind some guards.

"MOTHER!" "MOTHER!" I watched as one of the larger guards grip Sasha Denali and rip her arms off. Kate, Tanya, and Irina were restrained by a few guards in the back, being forced to watch this. Then, the huge one ripped off Sasha's head, and pitch it into the fire as well. Tanya and her sister let out a maddened cry of rage. The immortal child was tossed into the fire as well, by Jane, one of the only guards I knew.

Not a full second had passed yet, "It's true, she was born while I was still human," Bella defended. "I've never heard of such a thing," Eleazer said, slightly glaring a tiny tiny bit. "She can show you if you let her," Edward replied confidently. Turning Tanya, Edward said, "Tanya, you owe us this much. We're all under a death sentence because your sister didn't let us explain." This is Irina's doing? Irina? She was trying to kill us? Tanya glanced at Carmen, unsure of this action. Carmen nodded encouragingly and Tanya sighed, bending down. The immortal child placed a hand on my sister's cheek and Bella somewhat comforted Tanya. "Don't be afraid, this is how she communicates." After five seconds, which seemed longer than it really was, Tanya pulled away. "It's true. She's not immortal," she finally said.
