Maggie's Point Of View

Jane took another step towards me and her brother, I believe, held her back. Suddenly, a black mist spread towards us. I skitted a few stepped back and examined the thick fog. What would happen if I stepped in it? Kate pushed me behind her back and snarled at the cloud. Aro shook his head at the mist. I snorted, what did Aro expect the mist to do? It isn't as if the fog would talk or do anything. I looked at the Volturi member and realized that fog had come from on him. How stupid of me. It was coming from his hands. Whatever it was, I didn't trust it. I weakened his gift, I could tell that he had just retreated his mist from us right when I weakened his gift so it didn't annoy him. Dang. I heard low snarls and growls of the wolves. "Aro, you see there is no law broken here,' Carlisle said. "Agreed, but does it then follow that there is no danger," he turned to his witness and spoke slightly louder, "FOR THE FIRST TIME IN HISTORY, HUMANS POSE A THREAT TO OUR KIND." He lowered his voice. "They're modern technology has given birth to weapons that could destroy us. Maintaining our secret has never been so imperative. In such times, only the known is safe," Aro announced just as an evil grin spread across Caius's face. "Only the known is tolerable, and we know nothing about what this child will become. Can we live with such uncertainty? Spare ourselves a fight today, only to die tomorrow?" Aro asked in his feathery voice. The witness looked at us, then at Aro. Then whispered, "No." "Alice," Edward's hard, broken face turned abruptly pleased with recognization of his favorite sister. Aro gasped, "Alice?" He made her voice into a question. Alice wasn't a question, she was a person, or more specifically, a vampire. Alice and Jasper walked into the snowy clearing, ignoring us. I expected them to walk to our side of the field but they overlooked us and continued strolling towards the Volturi casually as if this wasn't a do or die situation. As if we weren't assembled here to kill each other. As soon as my cousins were close enough for the guards to grab them, without taking a single step forward, they seized her. Turned the struggling Alice and Jasper around, to face Aro, Aro said, "My dear dear Alice, I'm glad to see you here after all!" I snorted, He means he's glad she's here so he can enslave her as well with everyone else with a gift. Edward scowled at me. "I have evidence that the child won't be a risk to our kind, Let me show you," Alice drawled out, exasperated. "Brother," Caius said, his voice cold and hypocritical voice. Aro nodded, I don't know if the action was directed to Caius, or to Alice, but whoever it was to, they knew what it meant. Alice shoved her way past the guards and another guard - Felix - slapped Jasper across the face. Jasper snarled, barring his teeth.
