Maggie's Point Of View
"ARE YOU CRAZY?" Kate screamed at me as I tossed my clothing into a duffel bag. "It's to protect you guys," I replied, stuffing a thick jacket into my bag. Tanya was watching from the doorway, close to dry sobbing. "What do you mean?" "I would stay with you but if I don't choose them, they Caius will send someone to hurt you, to force me out of here," I explained my thinking. I ran down the stairs. Everyone was waiting downstairs, and I mean, everyone. Except for the Volturi of course. I hugged Alice, "I'll miss you Midget." I punched Emmett's arm. "Bye Giant." After I said my goodbyes, I walked back to the field. "Ready?" Athenodora asked me sweetly. I sighed but reluctantly nodded my head. When we got to Volterra, Caius asked Jane to show me around. I didn't pay attention, instead, I was wondering how many people they've killed over the years. "You can stay in this room," Jane led me to a dark place. "Sure?" "So, you're Caius and Athenodora's daughter?" she asked with sudden interest. "Er... Yes?" "You seem unsure," she commented. "Well, if they are my real parents, they abandoned me as a child. But Carmen and Eleazer were with me from when I was fifteen until I was, well, now. Caius never cared to look for me. So... how do I know they care, and that they won't leave me again?" Jane shrugged, then looked out the window. "See? Even as long as you've been with them, you don't know!" "I don't know because I'm not their daughter," Jane snapped. Caius walked in. "Time to hunt!" he announced. "Er... Yea, I'll go do it outside," I muttered. Athenodora walked in, looking astounded. "We feed in humans, dear child." "Well, I feed on animals. So I'll do my stuff," I replied, walking out. Jane grabbed my cloak, and hissed in my ear, "Don't disobey the Volturi leaders unless you want death!" Then she began dragging me down the hall and into a large courtroom, sideways. I hopped on my right foot down the hall, until she finally dropped me suddenly. "Ow!" I complained. I watched from the corner of my eyes as Demetri and Felix locked and bolted the doors. "Welcome friends to Volterra," I heard Aro greet them enthusiastically as they looked around. A few of them were snapping pictures, unlucky for them, those pictures would never be developed into pictures they could hang above their mantels. I saw a boy glance at me and I scowled. Were they really going to kill all these people? "Shall we raise a toast, Brother?" Aro asked, "In celebration of young Maggie Volturi coming home at last?" Caius smiled, almost angelically. It would have been angelic if his eyes weren't a black-red color if it were a more human eye color, like brown, blue, green, or even a gold shade would be more virtuous looking. More... innocent. "Good idea brother, Maggie. Come here," Caius motioned to the place next to him. I refused, no way was I going to stand next to him. "Maggie Primavera Volturi," Caius warned me. "Actually, it's Maggie Denali. But you renamed me, so my name is Maggie Primavera Denali Volturi," I shot back, but unwillingly moved next to Athenodora, my mother. I shook my head, "And I refuse to let any of you drain any humans," I scowled. "What's that supposed to mean?" that boy asked me. I glared, "Nothing." I glared at these weak humans. What would they be able to do if one of us attacked? Nothing? Well, all they could do was scream, be in pain, and scream some more. One of the blood drinkers that had bolted the door hissed in my ear: "You don't disobey the Volturi unless you want to be butchered." "I don't care," I announced, mockingly, I added, "Who are the Volturi? I follow my own rules!" Everyone in the room turned their head to look at me, the guards looking at me astound, the weak humans looking at me confused, and the people who were supposed to be my 'masters' looked at me, enraged. "Then what in the world will we feed on child?" Aro sneered, probably thinking that I didn't have an answer to his inquiry. I snorted, "Animals." My voice implied the tone that indicated that it was obvious that I shouldn't have to say it. "Animals? What kind of diet is that?" Aro scoffed. "An... interesting diet! Much better than humans."
