"Soooo? You excited for school to be over?" I say into my phone as I sit in bed looking for a reason to get up.
"Most definitely" Lucinda says as I hear shuffling from her end. "Only got two more weeks then summer break"
"What ya doing?" I ask.
"Getting dressed for school, you know thing everyone else has to do" Lucinda jokes.
"Hey, I've been doing work in preparation for next year" I say as I look over to a pile of workbooks that I left on the floor.
"I'm still surprised that your dad found a way for you to go back to school" Lucinda says with joy in her voice. "And all you have to do is go through some textbooks and learn everything"
"About that...." I say as my voice trails off cause of another wave of guilt washing over me.
"Y/N!!!!!! Can you come down here for a second!" Mom calls from downstairs.
"I gotta go for a sec, I'll be right back" I say.
"I've gotta go to school anyway so talk to you later?"
"Sure thing, love you"
"Love you" Lucinda says with a chuckle as she hangs up the phone.
I get up, put on some casual clothes and head downstairs to find my brothers at the table eating breakfast in their school uniform, with Mom in the kitchen with Garte. I wave my brothers a good morning as I walk over to Mom.
"Good morning" I greet.
"Morning sweetie, you okay?" Mom asks, slightly out of character.
"Yeah?" I say, slightly confused.
"Want some hot chocolate?" Garte offers as he hands me a cup of hot chocolate, definitely out of character.
I give a suspicion glare but take the hot chocolate anyway. "What's going on?"
"Well....." Mom says as her and Garte exchange nervous looks.
"Can you stop with the. Whatever it is you're doing?" I ask, getting slightly annoyed.
"You've been offered a position Scaleswind academy" Garte says.
"What?" I say as I become speechless. "Why?"
"The school has the best performing arts department in the country. They saw the Christmas musical and have offered you a position" Mom says while looking worried about my reaction.
I take a second and breath. "So, you want me to go"
"Your mother and I think that it will be a great opportunity for you" Garte says.
"Do you still have to go to summer school?" I ask.
"Yes" Garte says.
"But wait, Scaleswind academy is a seven hour drive from here" I say. "Do you really expect me to drive for fourteen hours a day"
