It all seemed so dark. So cold. She felt so numb. Elena felt so empty, so hollow. She remembers a time when she didn't feel like that. She remembers a time when she was filled with light and joy, excitement.

She was excited.

They both were. They were going to see their baby girl in a few weeks. Kol didn't leave her side up until it was time for her to give birth.

God it was painful, physically and mentally. It made a huge dent in their relationship but it would be worth it once their daughter was here. It would all be worth it.

So Elena pushed and pushed, Kol held onto her hand tight, encouraging her as she yelled and screamed in pain.

It would be all worth it, Elena would tell herself. All the blood, sweat and tears, all of it would be worth it. Everything will be worth it.

Finally with one big push their daughter was out and into the world. Maybe it was drugs and the fact that Elena was out of it but she didn't hear crying.

In fact she didn't hear anything.

Her head rested against the pillow and waited for her daughter to be handed to her, taking big breaths. Kol was silent.

Elena furrowed her brows at the silence, she was tired but the quiet room made her blood run cold, worry and a small panic creeping up on her.

She shifted her head towards her boyfriend. "What is it?" Kol looked down at her, his grip on her hand loosened. "What happened?" She questioned.

Elena moved to sit up, shuffling and looking up at the doctor and nurses around the room. "What happen-" she cut herself off.

The sight of her daughter in his hands, her daughter was quite, unmoving, and blue, she was so blue, her daughter was lifeless. She starred down in horror, her mouth went dry, a choked sob threatening to come out.

Kol let go of her hand, looking away from the scene, walking out the room. Elena sat up completely, all the physical pain leaving her body. "No. No! No! No! No!" She cried.

A nurse came up to the doctor, wrapping a blanket around the dead infant. The doctor turned around, facing away from Elena. "No! Give me my daughter! Stop it! She isn't! Give her to me!" She sobbed.

She tried to get out of the bed but a nurse held her back, trying to calm her down. Elena shoved her hand off of her, trying to get to her daughter. "Get off of me!" She snapped.

Not far from the room they could hear a loud bang. The doctor that was once holding her baby came over and tried to settle her down, he was covered in blood, in her daughter's blood.

He was covered in her daughters blood.

Elena shook her head, she didn't want him near her. She didn't want any of them near her, she didn't want them here. "Don't touch me! Get away from me!" She yelled.

He didn't say anything to her, no comforting words. Nothing. There wasn't anything he could say to her, what would could you say in a situation like this one?

The doctor didn't listen but he kept a firm grip on her and held her in the bed, she shouldn't be walking. Elena thrashed and shuffled, she didn't want him touching her. Her nails digging into his arm, trying to get him off of her. "Let me go! Give her! She can't be!" She yelled. "Let go!" She screamed.

He sighed and shook his head before letting go of her. Elena sighed harshly and hit her head against the pillow. Her hands balled up into small fists and she pounded them against the mattress under her.

The doctor gave the nurses a nod that told them that they should leave.

So they left and let Elena moron this lost she just had.

Her eyes blurred, her throat felt so clogged up, she looked to the other side of the room and saw her.

She saw her daughter wrapped up in that pink blanket they had her in.

But along with that pink also laid some red and when Elena's eyes scanned over her body she saw blue.

Elena screamed.
