"Niks at it again" Kol walks into the the lounge, plopping down on the couch, resting his feet on the coffee table.

"What's happened now?" Rebekah got up about to check up on him but her older brother Elijah walked in. "Leave him"

"Do you know anything about this Elijah? Because if so go tell him to knock it off. I can't go five bloody minutes without hearing angry brush strokes" Rebekah crossed her arms.

Elijah didnt answer, instead he held up a piece of paper. Rebekah eyed it but than took it. Elijah stood with his hands in his pockets, watching his sisters reaction.

Kol raised his eyebrows curiously. Both brothers watched Rebekah, waiting for something to happen and than she snapped. "There is no bloody way Elena is marrying the Salvatore! Has she lost her bloody mind!?"

"Which one?" Kol asked.

"I believe Damon was the last one she was with" Elijah answered.

All three could hear a crash come from the other room. Rebekah's eyes soften. She knew how much her brother cared for the doppelganger, she didn't like her, but Rebekah knew what she meant to Niklaus.

They all did.

It's a long story on how it started but when it did they all saw how much Nik had changed. They were both so happy.

But than that bloody phone call came in from Mystic Falls and Elena's witch friend said that she had found another cure. There was hope.

But of course she couldn't leave Klaus and that's where the trouble began. They had gotten into a huge fight on the stupid thing. But in the end Elena chose to be human and she wanted Klaus to take it with her, but he refused. Klaus chose to stay the almighty hybrid, feared by all and forever alone.

"Why would she send him that?" Kol asked confused on that part.

"I don't think she did" Elijah spoke up

Rebekah glared at the piece of paper "You think the Salvatore did?" She crushed the piece of paper and let it fall.

"You remember how violent he acted when he found out. It wasn't until Nik compelled him to leave did it stop" Kol got up and poured himself a drink.

"I still don't get why Nik didn't just kill him!" Rebekah was obviously pissed off at the idea of the two. She wish she knew what Elena was thinking.

Elijah laid a hand on her shoulder to calm Rebekah down, knowing full well she will drive down to Mystic Falls and murder the groom. "Elena wouldn't allow it. She begged Niklaus to let him live" Elijah spoke softly.

"And he did" Kol downed the liquor in his hands and set the cup down.

All of the orningials heads lay low, but all three looked up when someone entered the room.

Klaus came in, he was a mess. He was covered in blood, sweat and tears. They all felt bad, even Kol. Who normally liked to see his older brother in pain.

"Not for long he is" Niklaus spoke with such hatred and pain it hurt to hear him speak.

Klaus walked out of the room, it took a while for Kol and Rebekah to get what he said but Elijah knew right away and ran after him.

When Elijah caught up to him, he was about to get into the car. "Niklaus wait" Elijah spoke firmly but worried for the Salvatore's sake.

"What Elijah? I got nothing to lose! He has what once was mine and I want it back!" Anyone within hearing distance would know to stay away from the ticking time bomb.

"You really think that by doing this you'll win her back? You guys will go back to the happy couple you once were?" Klaus looked down, he knew his brother was right but like he said before. He has nothing to lose. "Nik, if you do this you won't win her back, if anything you'll drive her away. And let's say you do go down there and she does go back to you? She's still human, you saw her change."

Klaus looked down in shame. He wish he would have handle it differently. And sometimes he would catch himself wishing he took that damn thing with her. And that's when Klaus came to a groundbreaking discovery.

"He took it with her" Klaus spoke his thoughts out loud.

Klaus didn't sound angry and on the edge of killing someone. He just sounded heartbroken.

And than he did something Elijah didn't think he was caple of doing for a thousand years. Cry. In front of someone.

Klaus was showing weakness. He always talked about hiding your feelings from an enemy and how love made you weak. But now before him, Niklaus Mikelson cries.

Elijah went in and hugged his brother. Kalus hugged back, not caring about showing weakness and all the other bullshit he said about love.

He just lost the one possible thing he could ever love and have her love him back with the same amount of passion and happiness.

Elijah lead him back to his study. He sat Klaus down and got him a well needed drink.

Elijah was about to leave when Klaus spoke up and got his attention. "I really do love her. And I wish I could have taken it. I do. But-"

"I know" Elijah said, cutting him off.

"I love her. But she's better off without me Elijah and-"

"I know. Niklaus. Trust me. I know." Elijah leaves the room and Klaus looks into his cup.

It hurts him. But he just couldn't do it.

Something in the corner of his eye catches his attention. He turns his head to the type writer sitting on the desk.

He drowned his drink in one gulp and walked over to the desk. Pulling out a sheet of paper and a pen. He took a seat in his chair and wrote down what he was feeling.

Dear, Elena

Hello love. It's been a while. I miss you.
Everyday. I wish I could hold you like I use to. I wish I could laugh with you. I wish I could kiss you. But I can't. I guess I missed my chance huh? But really? Damon? You can do better. But he's not me and unlike me he took the cure, so I guess that does make him better than me. But love, you just have to know how sorry I am. I never meant to hurt you. I just wish things could go back to the way it was with us. You and me against the world. Ha, what has the 21st century done to me? But if I'm being honest I would have turned human for you. I really would have. But like I told you once. Im a bastard child. The no good son. A coward. And because I'm a coward I couldn't turn for you, but look where thats got us. So I guess I just wanted to say I'm sorry. Sorry that I could never and will never be the man you want and need. But you must know, I will always love you.

Always and Forever.

Love, Niklaus. M.

Klaus let the tears flow free. He got up and poured himself another drink. Taking a sip of it and walking back over to read over the letter.

He picked it up and walked over to the fireplace. Deciding last minute he tossed it in there.

He stood there. Watching the letter he would never send burn.

He took a sip of his drink and watched the flames dance. He sighed.

"Goodbye, love"
