Klena
"Hope! What happened!?" Elena exclaimed.
Klaus lifted his head and looked over at his daughter. Hope kept her head down and made sure her face was out of sight. Elena crouched down and lifted her chin too look at her.
Elena's hand fell as she scanned the bruises on her face. Elena's eyes went to look over her body and she now noticed her dirty and ripped clothes, along with scraped knees.
Klaus got up from his seat and went by his daughters side. He gripped the young girls shoulders and turned her to face him, he watched as the bruises started to fade and the cuts on her knees began to heal.
Klaus's eyes burned with a familiar intent. "Hope, what happened? Who did this?" His voice was hard and demanding. Elena noticed the girls trembling lip.
"Klaus-" Elena reached out to place a hand on his shoulder and try to calm him down, he was scaring the poor girl. "Klaus, just take a breather"
"No Elena, Hope, what happened? Tell me now. Who did this!?"
Hope sniffed, she spoke but she was shaking and her words were trembling as she did. "T-t-these girls a-at school" Hope took a small breath to help herself calm down.
That didn't help Klaus's rage, it was adding fuel to this already blazing fire. "Their names, Hope. Now, what are they?"
"Klaus! No!" Elena exclaimed.
Klaus's eyes turned from his daughter and looked at his lover. "What Elena!? These girls are treating my daughter like dirt and I won't have it!"
"I know what they are doing! But you don't handle the situation like this!"
"Than how am I supposed to handle it!?"
"Not like this Klaus! That's not the way too handle it! Your letting your anger blind you!" Elena shouted.
Klaus stood up and Elena made the same moves. "I am doing what is necessary!"
"This isn't necessary!" Elena argued.
Hope looked between her dad and stepmom and back again before breaking down, the tears coming down her face. Elena and Klaus stopped their shouts and looked down at the small child.
Klaus tried to reach out and comfort her but Hope moved away from him. "Leave me alone! Both of you!" She ran away from them and went down the hall and into her bedroom.
They heard the door slam.
Elena looked off at the direction Hope ran off in. Klaus watched in horror at what he had just done.
"What did I do?" He said his thoughts out loud. "My daughter hates me"
Elena's eyes softened. "Klaus, she doesn't hate you. She's upset and stressed, but she doesn't hate you" Elena went and stood in front of him, both of her hands on his shoulders.
Klaus looked down at her. "I'm sorry for shouting" he apologized.
Elena nodded. "I'm sorry too. But you know who we need to apologize too though"
Klaus sighed. "Yeah, but I don't know what to do love, I'm not good at this, her mom, Hayley normally does this kind of stuff and I just sort of sit back and love and protect her"
Elena's hand reached up to cup his face, her thumb rubbed his stubble. "Klaus, I would like to tell you that she should take the high road and tell a teacher but these girls aren't just teasing and picking on her, their beating her and so rather than you going in and fighting her battles for her, maybe you could teach her how to at least defend herself. The Mikaelson way" Elena suggested.
Klaus thought about it for a second before an idea came into his head. A wide grin came across his face, he bent down and gave Elena a hot savoring kiss before pulling back. "Elena Gilbert you are absolutely perfect"
Elena grinned back. "Thank you, now go and comfort Hope, I will make dinner"
Klaus gave a quick kiss her cheek before going down the same path Hope went down.
When he came in front of Hopes closed door, he knocked once.
No response.
So he tried again and nothing. When he listened in he could hear crying, so he knocked again, this time trying the door knob and twisting it to find it unlocked.
Klaus stepped in, finding his daughter on the bed, her knees up and sobbing into a stuffed bear. Klaus took a few steps forward. "Hope" he said softly.
She didn't look up, but her shoulders became tense, so she knew he was here. "Hope, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to make you upset. Instead I should have just been there and heard what you had too say, I should have never have gotten like that"
Hopes head lifted up slightly and looked at her father. She didn't say anything.
"Do you want to talk about it? Or we don't even have to talk about it, but let me be here for you, tell me what's wrong or don't. Just let me be here, please"
There was silence for a moment. Hope than moved to sit on the edge of her bed and patted the free spot next to her, waiting for Klaus to sit down.
Klaus moved on over to her and took his seat. Hope talked.
"The girls always mess with me, and I could take it because I'm strong, just like mom always tells me but today...."
Hope was quite.
"Today what?" Klaus asked.
"Today......they, t-they did this" Hope looked down. Klaus heard her sniff, he brought his arm around her and brought Hope into his arms.
"Shhh, shhh, it's okay, I'm here"
Klaus moved back to look down at her. "Hope, listen, you are strong. You are the strongest little girl I know"
Hope wiped her eyes and looked up at him. "But sometimes simply ignoring the bullies aren't enough, sometimes we have to take action before they can strike us again"
"How though? How can I do that?" Hope asked.
Klaus leaned in and whispered into her ear. Hopes eyebrows went up and looked at her father in astonishment. "Really? Can I? But won't I get into trouble?"
Klaus shook his head and smiled at her, Hopes mood becoming lighter making the smile on his face spread. "Not with me" he said.
Hope took it into consideration before nodding and giving Klaus a small grin.
The next day Elena and Klaus dropped Hope off at school, they watched as she went up to the entrance, Klaus saw a small group of girls look at her and whisper among themselves, they snickered and giggled.
Klaus's hands gripped the wheel hard, he was about ready to get out but Elena stopped him. "Klaus, no, Hope gots this. She's a smart and strong girl, she gots this, just trust me"
Klaus looked at Elena and nodded.
And Elena was right, when Klaus and Elena went to go pick up Hope from school, there was not one scratch on her.
The same couldn't have been said for the other girls though.
