Human AU
Kol switched on the kitchen lights and turned the coffee pot on for a brew. He looked out the glass window in front of the kitchen sink that gave him a good view of his front yard. A loud bang came from the sky above and he sighed.
Kol quickly put on his slippers, opening the front door he walked down the driveway to get the newspaper, the blue sky was slowly turning grey as the rain clouds were coming in. He grabbed the newspaper and went back inside.
Kol locked up the front door, tossing the newspaper on the dining table he jumped back a little from the sight of his son rubbing his eyes, he was still in his pajamas and behind him was a blanket he dragged out of bed in his hand.
"Henry, you scared me buddy. What are you doing out of bed so early?" Kol bent down to his height and Henry yawned.
"I heard the thunder, I didn't want to sleep alone"
Kol picked his four year old son up and went up the stairs to his and Elena's room. Kol gently set Henry down next to Elena. "Sleep next to mom" he whispered.
Elena stirred in her sleep and looked over at Henry half asleep, she looked up at Kol before picking up the covers and cuddling in close to her son. Elena fell back to sleep almost instantly and Henry shut his eyes.
Kol made his way to the kitchen, he made a cup of coffee and enjoyed the view of the grey skies for a moment before deciding to make breakfast. Kol brought out eggs, bacon and pancake mix.
As he mixed up the batter he heard a small squeak come from behind him, Kol turned and saw Henry fully awake now looking at him make breakfast.
"I couldn't sleep" Henry mumbled.
Kol smiled and picked him up, Kol set Henry down on the counter. "Here, want to help me make breakfast?"
Henry yawned while nodding. Kol gave him a bowl with egg yokes to stir. While Henry mixed up the yokes in his bowl Kol started to get the bacon cooked.
Kol smirked when he heard footsteps coming down the stairs, Elena loved bacon and it never failed to wake her up in the mornings. He turned and saw her come down in his shirt that she wore to sleep last night. Elena tied her hair up as she walked in the kitchen.
"Good morning darling" Kol turned up the heat on the stove and got out some orange juice from the refrigerator.
Elena gave a lazy smile, she walked towards Henry and gave him a kiss on the head, Henry reached his arms out, wanting Elena to pick him up. Elena picked him up and set Henry on her hip while she held him. Elena gave Kol a quick kiss on lips before going and making her own cup of coffee.
"Your up early Kol, when did you get up?" Elena asked.
Kol shrugged. "About an hour ago"
Elena hummed, taking a sip of the warm coffee. Henry tried to take a sip but failed when Elena pulled the cup away. "No, not for you, your hyper enough and besides do you want to be short?"
Henry shook his head. "I'm thirsty"
"Your thirsty?" Elena asked. Henry nodded. "Well let's get you some ju-" Elena was cut off when Kol gave her a cup already filled with juice. "It's like your a witch. Always knowing things before they happen" Elena said.
Kol only chuckled and gave her a kiss on the lips. "I'm not a witch, just a dad" Elena hummed against his lips, Kol went to pull away but Elena pulled him back in and gave him a quick peck. Kol chuckled and went back to cooking the eggs.
A loud sound of thunder came from the sky it made Elena turn to look out the window. "Do you think it's gonna rain hard? Maybe we can still go to the park today?"
