How did this happen?
He spoke with her two hours ago.
Where did it all go wrong? She was literally at their house, she was safe. Until she decided she needed to go shopping and got into a terrible accident.
She was rushed to the hospital and had been in surgery for a while now. It felt like a life time. With his head in his hands he waited patiently for her to get out. He waited for the doctors to call him back and say that everything was going to be okay. He waited for the moment he would get to see her and his worry will be gone because than he'll realize she's okay. She's fine, she's going to be fine.
"Elijah"
He looked up at the Elena's blonde friend, Caroline. She had a small cup of coffee in her hands. "It's all they had, I know hospital food isn't the best"
Elijah nodded taking the cup from her grasp. "Thanks" he mumbled.
She nodded, giving a sympathetic smile. All of her friends had came as soon as they heard the news. Bonnie had sat in the chairs behind Elijah. All of them lining up against each other in the waiting room like a game of musical chairs.
Bonnie's head rested on her boyfriend's shoulder. Her and Damon waiting out this painful long surgery. Caroline took the seat next to Elijah, blowing off the steam to her own cup of coffee. The diamond ring shined on her finger when she did.
Caroline and his brother had gotten married a few years back. That was actually how him and Elena had met, at their wedding. He remembers he was paired up with her. He was Klaus's best man and she was Caroline's maid of honor, so she was his dance panther, I guess you could say and he had fallen for her the moment his eyes laid on her.
They talked for months getting to know each other a little better and eventually they become friends. Than finally Elijah got the courage to ask out Elena. It went so well and so they went on more dates until it became official. Soon they moved in together and Elijah has been waiting to ask the big question.
He had gotten a ring picked out and he already knew exactly how he was going to do it. But than he got that phone call and it felt as if his world just came crashing down. Sighing he looked up at his lovers brother.
Jeremy had refused to sit down. He was too tensed and on edge to take a seat. Jeremy had to be the only one who knew what Elijah was planning. He had asked him after all for his approval and he had got it. Elena's and Jeremy's parents passed away in a car accident.
Elijah felt his heart stop. His vision blurred for second and his head began to spin. No, it would be okay. Elena is going to be alright, she is going to come out of this just fine. Everything is going to be okay. He thought.
He took a deep breath and set the cup down on the floor next to him. Caroline rested her hand on his forearm. "Hey, I'm sure it's going to be okay, she's a fighter. She'll get through this"
Elijah glanced at her and nodded. "Yeah, she sure is"
Not a moment later the doctor walked into the waiting room. "Elena Gilbert?"
Elijah sat up, walking towards her. "That's us" he answered. Bonnie picked up her head and followed Elijah, Damon getting up as well as Caroline who set her cup down.
"Okay, are you all family?" She asked.
Elijah shook his head. "No, I'm her boyfriend"
Jeremy looked at the doctor. "I'm her only family" he answered.
"How are you related?"
"I'm her brother"
She nodded. "Okay, well. It was a long process and took a us a while but as far as we can tell, she's going to be fine. You can go and see her but only two at a time. Follow me"
