"y/n come on, we really don't have all day!!" I grab five more jumpers and just stuff them in my case. Mom and dad had left a lot of hidden money in the house, in case anything was to happen to them; it's like they knew. Oli and I are going to live at the Burrow for a while, until we're able to get our own place. Molly insisted.
Two weeks ago:
"Mrs.Weasley, it really is okay, Oliver and I can just find a room to crash in for a while and jobs" I had visited the burrow because I hadn't seen the twins since the war and I wanted to catch them up on everything. I had told them about my parents and how we had two weeks to leave the house and Molly had over-heard it. Molly kept insisting for us to stay at the Burrow but with seven children, plus Potter and Granger who practically live there; two more kids just would just be a burden.
"Nonsense y/n, we have room, I'll just stay in George's room and you can take mine." I knew there was no point in arguing with Fred so I just accepted it. Molly was so happy when I did, I guess it was because we grew so close since I became best friends with the twins.
The golden trio wasn't there so they probably won't know until I move in, in two weeks, even though I'm pretty sure they won't really like the idea. George wasn't home either, he had an extra shift at the joke shop and we decided not to tell him until the day I moved in. Sort of as a surprise.
After lunch, Molly finally let me leave but not without some leftovers for me and Oliver. Fred was walking me out the door,
"Freddie, really, I don't want to be a bother, your mom has enough children in the house to deal with." I knew that he wasn't going to change his mind but that didn't stop me from trying. "y/n, you and Oliver have through so much bullshit, even before the war-" I raised my hand up to him and stopped him before he finished the sentence. "I don't wan- I don't need your family to have that bullshit." The look in his face told me that nothing I could say would change his mind.
"If I'm able to help you out and get rid of even the smallest amount of bullshit for you guys, I am," I look at the ground trying to think of something. Before I can say anything, Fred grabs my chin gently and makes me look at him, "And there's no changing my mind." A sigh of defeat falls out of my mouth, knowing I really don't have the slightest chance of changing his mind.
"Okay fine.." His eyes lit up at those two words, "But only in two weeks, when we really have to move out. It's no reason to move in any earlier." I told him with a stern tone to let him know I'm serious. His face didn't change, he was so happy.
Fred gave me the biggest hug ever, I don't think he's ever hugged me like this. "Okay, Freddie, okay" I managed to say through my muffled giggles. I pulled back a little to look at his face; his happy expression automatically soften as he said, "I just felt so bad, I hadn't sent any owls since the war, I didn't know how you guys were doing. I had heard that something bad had happened to your parents but I didn't know that they..." Fred started rambling, still looking straight into my eyes. "Fred.. its okay" It's like he didn't even hear me over his thoughts, "..And when you told me what actually happened today, I- I wanted to help you out, I didn't know what to do. Until mum brought up you guys staying with us and I had to convince you. y/n I have to help you out." He wouldn't stop until I grabbed his face with both of my hands. "Fred, it's okay, really. Thank you so much for caring this much... We're staying, don't worry." I could feel his face relax under my hands until he pulled me in for another hug.
"Okay you big sensitive baby, I have to go, Oliver's waiting for me." Fred still didn't pull away. "Fred, I need to get Oli lunch. Knowing him, he probably hasn't eaten yet." He finally pulled away, smiling from ear to ear. "Owl me everyday these two weeks, I want to make sure you're okay." I nodded and with that, I apparated from the Burrow, back home.
Now:
I ran down the stairs as Oliver continued yelling at me that we were late. "I'm ready Oliver relax", He had the most irritated look on his face as he said, "Let's just go".
As we walk out the front door, I stare at the house I grew up in, knowing I'd probably never be back. With glossy eyes, I look at Oliver; his annoyed expression fading to an understanding one and he says, "You ready?"
I take a look at the house one last time and look back at my older brother. I smile a small smile and say, "yeah, I'm ready." At those words, Oliver grabbed my and and we apparated to the Burrow. The power from the apparation almost knocking me to the ground as I grab onto Oliver's shoulder to keep my balance.
We were at the front door of the Burrow, I take a long, deep breath before knocking on the door. Almost two seconds later, Molly opens the door. She looks at my and whispers, "the twins are in the kitchen" My smile automatically shows up as she says those words. Oli grabs my bag and I silently run to the kitchen, Fred sees me almost right away, but I put a finger to my mouth to let him know not to say anything.
George his sitting on a chair with his back facing me; I slowly walk up to him, put my hands on his shoulders and scream, "boo!" His girly like scream makes me and Fred laugh hysterically. George looks at me with widen eyes, "You scared the bloody shit out of me!" I really just couldn't stop laughing until he pulled me into a bear hug. I look at him, "hey you" His eyes turn into worried eyes as he said, "Fred told me what happened with your parents, I'm so sorry I haven't had the chance to Owl you. The shop has just taken up all my time and- wait where are you staying? do you need a place to stay. MUM-" George started rambling just as Fred has, they really are identical twins. I stopped him before he was able to continue, "George, I'm staying here for a while." He pulls me away from the hug, "what!?" He looks at Fred with a sped that I thought would've cracked his neck, "Did you know about this??" Fred tries to keep in his laughter but fails. George notices this and frowns, "why does no one tell me anything" I giggle before hugging him again, "Hey, don't blame me, mum wanted it to be a surprise." Fred lets him know as he pulls me off George's arms, making me remember I hadn't said hi to him yet.
From the corner of my eye I see Oliver coming into the kitchen from upstairs and George gets up from his chair to talk to him. Noticing this, Fred pulls me into a big hug, more like the one from two weeks ago. We stay in it for a while, "I'm so glad you chose to stay here, I don't know what else I would've done to try to convince you." He mumbles on the top of my head. For some reason, the way he cared and how hard he was trying made my heart melt and gave me butterflies, I don't really understand why but I brushed it off.
"Thank you so much Freddie, I don't know where else I would go. I'm repaying you back tho." Before he can argue with me about the last thing I said, I gave him a quick peck on the cheek and ran upstair to organize my clothes.
