Blessing in Disguise

Winning and Losing

**Lauren's POV**
  Today was game day and I couldn't lose focus for even a second. Ginny and I had gotten up early to run some drills as our prematch ritual and now I was on my way back to our suite to take a hot shower. I know it seems counterproductive to shower now when I'd just get sweaty again in a few hours but the hot shower always relaxed me and allowed me to clear my head before a match.
  So much had been dropped on us the last few days, that I couldn't afford to let any of that be a distraction today. This was Gin and I's shot to prove that we could lead our team to victory and besides THE Charlie Weasley, Quidditch god, would be watching us play and I was more nervous about that than I cared to let on.
  Entering the great hall for a small breakfast, coffee to wake me up and some scrambled eggs, my eyes immediately fell towards the table that had an abundance of red heads goofing off with one another. I took a moment to just stand there, a small smile on my lips as I watch all my friends talking and laughing with one another. A year ago I never would have believed the sight in front of me but today, today it was perfect.
  "Ready for the big game today Miss Anderson? I wouldn't want to see my house lose after all" turning my head to the side I noticed Headmistress McGonagall standing next to me. "You don't have to worry about us losing Headmistress. The team has never worked harder I promise." "I know, I've been watching some of your practices, and I must say I've never seen the team as a whole look so strong before" she told me.
  We both just stood in silence for a moment before she turned to face me. "Miss Anderson, I just wanted to tell you that I'm very proud of all of your accomplishments over the years. You've over come a lot, and yet your hard work, and passion have never wavered. I know your parents were so proud of you and they would have loved to see all the hard work you've put in to prove you've deserved this position."
"Thank you Head Mistress, that means lot coming from you." She gave me a small smile in return, nothing more needing to be said before walking off leaving me to head towards my friends for my own breakfast.

**Quidditch Match**

I was pumped, the adrenaline pumping through me. As soon as I hit the pitch and took to the sky all the worry and nerves I had been feeling went away. Gryffindor was currently beating Hufflepuff by twenty points, proving that all the hard work Ginny and I had been putting in was paying off.
The best part of all of this was seeing Charlie in the stands, standing amongst all of our friends cheering me on. I had to let out a chuckle when I scored my first goal, neatly weaving in and out of the way of the Hufflepuffs trying to get in my way and faking out their keeper to score the first goal. When I looked over at Charlie his jaw was practically on the floor dumbfounded by how neatly I cleared my own path.
"Lauren! Devon has his eye on the snitch. Won't be long till this match is over" Ginny yelled as she came towards me. As I went to yell back at her, something or should I say someone in the crowd caught my eye.
It couldn't be could it? There was no way it could be him but as I flew down to get a better look my blood ran cold and my broom came to a halt. I knew I shouldn't have stopped in the middle of all the chaos, but I couldn't move. My heart was racing and my head was spinning no longer focused on the game still going on around me.
"Lauren watch out!! Get out of the way" I could hear being called from somewhere near me as someone else could be heard screaming for someone to get away but it was to late, the buldger someone had tried to warn me about had already knocked me off my broom and I was plummeting towards the ground.
Amongst the chaos, the announcer oblivious to everything going on could be heard yelling into his mic "Brown has caught the Snitch, Gryffindor Wins the match." The last thought I had before landing on the ground with a thud was that I had managed to win and lose all in a matter of mer seconds and then everything went quiet and darkness surrounded me.

It's been awhile since I've updated and I'm sorry this chapter was short one but I wanted to get something out for you guys. Hope everyone is staying safe and healthy.
