I awoke the next morning to the smell of food wafting through the house. I slowly sat up and brushed the sleep from eyes before stumbling out of bed and pulling on some random clothes off the floor.
I entered the kitchen and found Chad and Katya talking over pancakes.
"Morning baby." Chad said brightly as I sat down next to him.
"Please don't talk to loudly."
"Why because of Alaska on the couch?" Kat asked.
"No, my head is pounding."
"How much did you drink last night?"
"I'm not too sure, just whatever was in my room last night."
"Why would you do that?" Katya asked me.
"I needed it." I sighed before placing my head down on the table. Moments later Justin walked in looking haggard.
"Morning." He said cheerily enough. I sat up as Chad held out his hand.
"I'm Chad, Aaron's boyfriend." Justin nodded and shook Chad's hand.
"I'm Justin, I'm friends with Willam, I'm just staying for the week."
"Before you ask, Aaron has a headache and is in the mood for murdering anyone who talks to loudly." Katya said before stuffing more pancake in her mouth.
"Oh, okay, I'm planning on finding something to do anyway as Willam is busy." Chad's phone started ringing and he headed out the room to take it. "You can sit down." I muttered. Justin just nodded before sitting next to Kat.
"Did you sleep alright?" Katya asked Justin.
"Yeah, thanks for letting me stay." He said as he turned to face me.
"Whatever." I said letting out a sigh of relief before placing my head back down.
"Don't mind her, she's always like this." Katya told Justin. "Are you sure I don't know you from somewhere?" She asked.
"Like I said, I don't think so." Justin replied. Chad returned and leaned against the counter. "Baby?"
"Yeah?"
"I'm going to have to go see my mom, she's not well, I'm gonna set off today so can we take a rain check for the movies?"
"That's fine."
"Actually, you can just take Justin, he was looking for something to do, weren't you?" Chad asked Justin.
"Oh, I, um, well yeah but it's fine, I'll find something to do."
"There you go Aaron, take Justin."
"Right."
"Alright, I'm off." Katya said as she dropped her plate in the sink. "Thanks for the food and have fun on your date." She laughed before leaving.
"I'm gonna head off too." Chad said before kissing me on the head. "I'll call you later."
"Alright." Chad said goodbye and followed Katya out of the house leaving just Justin and me. "We don't have to go to the movies, I'll find something to do."
"No, we'll go."
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah."
"I'm really sorry Aaron, If I had somewhere else to stay, I'd go."
"It's fine, it was just a shock seeing you."
"I didn't know you knew Willam?"
"Yeah, we became friends when I first moved here."
"How long have you and Chad been together?" Justin asked.
"Jealous, are we?"
"No, I was just wondering." Justin replied getting defensive.
"I was joking, we've been together two years."
"At least you lasted longer than us."
"Mhm." I lit a cigarette and turned away.
"I'm going to go get ready then."
"Alright." I watched Justin leave the room before sighing and grabbing my phone. I scrolled through my contacts, clicked Brooke's name, and let it ring. "Hello?"
"I need your help?"
"Why?"
"Your brother happens to be sleeping on my couch."
"What?"
"Willam had Courtney staying over so asked if Justin could stay with me and well I couldn't just turn him away."
"Do they know you used to date? More importantly does Chad know?"
"No, I don't want them to find out."
"Just keep your distance and hope you don't have to spend a lot of time together."
"We're going to the cinema."
"Well at least you'll have your friends, right?"
"No, it's just us."
"Well don't hit on my brother...again." Brooke said before laughing.
"Oh, ha ha, we were just young and stupid at the time, Justin and I didn't mean anything."
"Wow, thanks." I turned around to find Justin stood there clutching his phone between his hands. He turned to go. "Brooke, I'll call you back." I hung up and stubbed out my cigarette before following him out the front door where I chased him to the end of the driveway. "Justin, wait!" I called. He stopped and put his hands in the pockets of his jacket. "I'm sorry." I said as I came to a stop next to him. "I shouldn't have said that."
"Well you did."
"Please come back inside and let me explain."
"I'm alright out here."
"Just come back into the house."
"No."
"Come on." Justin crossed his arms before sitting down on the pavement. I looked down at him and sighed before sitting next to him. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said that because well you did mean something to me, in fact you meant a lot to me."
"Then why say it?"
"I don't know, it just came out."
"And that makes it okay?"
"No, it's a pathetic excuse from a pathetic person."
"You're not pathetic."
"I am."
"Why did you cheat on me?"
"Huh?"
"Was I not good enough?"
"No, it was nothing like that."
"Then why did you do it to me?"
"I'd already hurt you and Brooke, and I'd always planned on moving away and I just thought it would be better for you, you know if I wasn't in your life so I wanted you to think I was a dickhead so you wouldn't care if I left, I gave Trixie some people's numbers from school and got her to text them and start a rumour about me I thought it would be easier to leave you if you hated me."
"You didn't cheat on me?"
"No, like I said I thought it would be better if I wasn't in your life."
"I wanted you in my life."
"Well here I am."
"You know what I mean."
"Well some things happen for a reason."
"You didn't hurt me."
"What?"
"You said you'd already hurt me and Brooke, you didn't hurt me, well not until you started that rumour."
"I didn't want to."
"Then why?"
"I though I'd find it easier to leave if you hated me."
"I expected you to stick around, you said you weren't going anywhere."
"I'm sorry, I was young and didn't know I had everything."
"Mhm."
"I did promise the video wasn't what it looked like."
"Maybe I will find somewhere else to stay." Justin said as he stood up. He held out his hand and pulled me up, so I was stood facing him. "Please stay."
