CW: This chapter has slight mentions of Nico's childhood. Which wasn't great. It's not in detail, and it's not about abuse. Just about some of the things he did in his teens while homeless. It's randomly put in this chapter, so it's hard to CW right before each time, but I promise it's nothing in detail <3
DESPITE THAT! This is a fluff chapter. No angst :') but don't worry. I have one more angst arc planned before the stories over :D
It was weeks of living on a high. Naomi and Sydney had to go back to the courthouse quite a few times to sign things, meaning Will and I became babysitters for about a month and a half - and we were pretty good at it.
Not to gloat, but we were like the babysitting dream team.
Okay, not really, we just kept them alive and that's good enough in my book.
However, all the legal work was finally done. It didn't feel real. For the last... forever... everything had been about the case. It wasn't anymore. I had to relearn how to function. I came back to work and just existed.
Sure, life was a little less stressful, but I didn't get to see Will as much. That part sucked. I missed him. It was kind of scary how much I missed him if we're being honest.
I think he's my soulmate.
It's the only logical explanation for my weird desire to be around him all the time.
I was finally getting off work now and Will was coming to pick me up and we were going to a park to just kinda walk around. We never really went on "dates". We really did just kind of skip that part. I didn't mind. Dates were awkward, but occasionally it was nice to just go out and do nothing in particular.
I wouldn't call what we were about to do a date... mainly because I hated the idea of them. They were always so awkward. Going to the park and walking around at ten o' clock? Not awkward.
I saw a familiar old truck pull up with it's windows ran down, and couldn't help the smile that appeared on my face. Never once in my life would I think a rusty ass truck would bring me joy but here we were.
"Took you long enough," I joked, raising my voice so he could hear me over the engine running, despite the fact he was actually on time, I just got off early because I hated that place, especially since Jason and Annabeth were off.
"I'll make sure to speed in the school zone next time," He laughed as he reached over and unlocked the door to let me in.
"As you should," I said, buckling up."School's aren't even open right now, there are no school zones." I noted after thinking about it for a moment.
"Better safe than sorry."
"You drive like an old woman, Jesus," I teased, but in all honesty, I'd rather have waited an hour than speed.
"Then I guess you're into Milfs," He joked, riaising his eyebrows with a dumb smirk plastered on his face.
"Ew! No stop." I said, hiding my face in my hands.
Will laughed as he pulled out of the parking lot, going as slow as he always did as country music was playing lowly in the background. We fell into a comfortable silence until Will went and asked me about my day - which was fine and all except there wasn't much to say about it.
"Some guy tipped my about thirty dollars but I'm pretty sure it wasn't because I was good at my job... but I guess that's flattering in some way,"
"How old was he?"
"You should have gotten his contact information, I'd say number, but he probably uses Facebook messenger only."
