Chapter 13
Sky's P.O.V.
Quentin and Ian were already in the room when I entered. I think I heard Ian mention cake, but decided to stay out of it. At least his sunglasses were on though. Let me just say that when he talked about cake without his sunglasses on... the thought alone is creepy enough. I just hope that those sunglasses stay on for a long time. I don't wish to have to face something like that again any time soon... or ever again preferably.
I gave a small shudder as I sat down in my chair. Those memories were one I liked to avoid remembering. Luckily for me the rest joined us soon, so I didn't have to worry about my mind wandering back to the topic. Instead I could figure out what had Jerome so hyper earlier - and why he wanted me to call this meeting.
Jerome and Mitch were the last to arrive. It was kind of funny really. You see, Jerome carried a half-conscious Mitch into the room on his back - while still running at that. Compared to Mitch he didn't seem tired at all. Sure he was panting, but really the condition Mitch was in was much worse. I stood up in surprise at the sight of the two. "Jerome! Mitch looks worn out! We should get him to the medical bay!" I exclaimed.
"He's just a little tired. I'm sure he'll be fine."Jerome replied with a small shrug.
"Sky's right Jerome. Mitch doesn't looked good." Jason stood up as well.
"I'm fine... enough." Mitch panted. "Look... If he doesn't say whatever now... he'll just end up dragging me around... again." He seemed determined that we continue on.
"You sure?" I asked gently. Mitch just nodded, seeming totally out of it.
"Alright!" Jerome declared as he put Mitch down on his chair before going to sit in his own. I sat down, and after glancing in my direction, Jason did too. "So me and Mitch were out staying in our place in the jungle right? Basically it was dark out and I decided to go out and kill some mobs since I couldn't sleep. I was just about to head back to the tree when I caught a really strong scent of zombie. There was multiple and they were coming in my direction. I panicked and ran away a bit. When I caught sight of the zombies, they had stopped near some thorns that had a tuft of fur stuck on it from the earlier mentioned fighting of mobs. The zombies grunted, and moaned, and groaned, and all those zombie sounds they make as if they were communicating with each other.
"Eventually I threw Betty at them to see if I could take one of them out before they found and attacked me. I missed and Betty's blade sunk into a tree right behind them. One of the zombies let out a sound like it was shouting a command before the four turned and began to run away from me. Though this confused me I was more confused by the nagging feeling that I recognized the one zombie's voice. I still ran up to the tree, pulled out Betty and chased them. Well... I chased them until I saw the thing."
"The thing?" Ian asked, somehow sitting on his head in his chair. I don't know when he started doing that cause I haven't seen a lot of movement coming from his direction, and he was sitting normally when Jerome started his story...
"Yeah." Jerome nodded in response to Ian's question. "Basically while I was chasing the zombies, the one who had done the loud sound turned it's head to look at the other zombies and I saw the side of it's head."
"Well?!" Both Quentin and Mitch asked at the same time. Mitch seemed fully awake now.
Jerome spat out the words so fast it was nearly impossible to understand. "THEREWASAGREENGLOWANDIT'STHEGREENGLOWFROMTY'SHEADSET!HEWASOUTTHEREWITHZOMBIESANDITWASALLWEIRDLIKE!"
"Uhh... Jerome? Could you maybe repeat that, but slower this time?" Jason requested.
Jerome nodded and took in a deep breath. "There was a green glow coming from the side of it's head. The same green glow of Ty's headset. I'm certain it was him I saw out there with those zombies."
"Biggums you're probably just seeing things. He went home didn't he? Why would he be with zombies anyways? You just miss him as much as everyone else." Mitch placed a hand on the fluffy creature's shoulder.
"No!" Jerome yelled pulling away from Mitch and standing up suddenly. "Now that I think about it, in the scent trail those zombies left was the exact same smell of what Ty smelt like when I first met him. I'm sure it was him! I wasn't seeing things! If he lived with zombies it would explain why he seemed so weirded out by everything! It's because he hasn't lived with the stuff or been around people. Don't you see? Ty's voice, scent, and the glow from his headset. That has to mean it was him!"
"Jerome, I have to agree with Mitch here. Maybe one of those mobs hit you on the head hard or something and it caused you to hallucinate or something." I was completely serious as I spoke and concern laced my voice.
"I'm not crazy!" Jerome yelled. "I know what was there!" With that he stormed off through the doors.
Jason stood up instantly. "I'll go follow him and try to calm him down. Hopefully I can avoid anyone getting injured." I nodded and he rushed out of the room. I shuddered at the thought of last time Jerome had gone on an angry rampage through the base. Many recruits and even a couple of the team got injured while trying to stop him. It was only thanks to Seto's magic that he even stopped at all.
