Chapter 3 - Escaping

Asami quickly gathers her stuff to get out of her office. She knows that her business is clean and she has nothing to hide, but she fears that the media will think otherwise and she fears that the police could find something. Varrick is a very good friend and business partner of Asami. He always knows what to do, so she just does what he advised her to. Especially because he has a lot of experience and she trusts him a lot. After gathering her stuff, she walks over to Zhu Li's office to tell her the news.

"Are you serious Miss Sato?!" Zhu Li asks.

"Zhu Li I know this sounds crazy, but I have to stay on the low for a while, Varrick told me to do so, and he knows what is up."

"Alright, I guess you can rely on Varrick, he always has been loyal and never got in trouble for anything, but still, this is just messed up."

"I know I know, but it is what it is and I have to leave the office right now. Ginger told me there was a police officer here earlier."

"Oh really? What else did she say?"

"That this officer will come back today and I have to leave now."

"Take the exit in the back of the building, it would be bad if you run into that officer at the main entrance."

"You're right, I gotta go now, please take care of some of the work okay?"

"I will boss."

"Thank you Zhu Li."

Asami quickly walks to the backdoors and leaves the building with her car.

"I guess I have to go to my second apartement, they will surely try to find me in my mansion."

After Ginger told Korra to wait, Korra went into a café to drink some coffee and eat some breakfast, because she didn't have the time to.

"What else could I do to catch Asami? I guess I can use the time to get to Asami's house and maybe search for something there. I hope she left her door open, like she always does." Korra thinks to herself but decides to finish her breakfast first and then head over to Asami's house.

After a little while, Korra enters her car. Not a second later, she turns on the car and drives off to Asami's house.

"I remember when I used to drive there everytime after work, good times" Korra says as she sadly smiles. She wonders if she will find something there.

Asami arrives at home and quickly gathers all of the important stuff.

"I have to get out of here as fast as I can!"

She runs to her car to stuff everything in and checks twice if she didn't forget anything.

"I think that was it" Asami declares.

To not be suspicious, Asami parked her old car into her garage and took her new car that nobody knows of. With her new car, nobody can spot her easily. Asami enters her car and checks if the car turns on. Good for her, the car works. As she is about to drive off, she spots a car in her mirror. Something about this car seems to be familiar but she doesn't give much thought to it and drives off. She hopes that nobody will find her in her apartement.

Korra arrives at Asami's mansion and sees a car driving off. This car doesn't look like Asami's car, so she decides to ignore it. Wondering if she will find something, Korra exits her car and walks up to the gate. She rings the doorbell and waits for an answer. No answer. She rings again. No answer.

"Okay that is enough" Korra yells and climbs over the high wall.

She doesn't care if this is illegal or not, she just wants to find Asami and get over this case. She checks if the door is open and suprisingly, it is.

"Hah, I knew it, typical Asami always forgets to lock her door."

Korra enters Asami's mansion and looks around. Memories start to flood her mind and she feels sad and happy at the same time. But mostly sad, because these are the times that are over now. She looks over to the kitchen where Asami and her used to cook and laugh a lot. As Korra is walking through the rooms, she spots something on the floor.

"What is that...oh that is Asami's contact list book."

Asami keeps the numbers of her clients and business partner's in her little book to not forget them.

"This is weird, this is something important for Asami and it is lying on the ground."

Korra decides to look through more rooms  but doesn't find anything else. As she is about to leave, she finds a piece of clothing on the floor in the living room.

"That is odd, Asami is an organized person and she never leaves something on the floor, especially not clothing and her important notebook. Something is wrong. Maybe I should go back to her workplace and talk to her secretary again."

And with that, Korra exits Asami's mansion and makes sure to properly close the door.

"I always used to ask you if you closed and locked the door and you would always reply with "do I look like I do" I miss those times."

Korra seems to get more and more sad but decides to ignore it. She has a job to do.
