Chapter 13 - Hit-and-Run

Asami leaves the building and sprints to her car that is parked outside. She quickly opens her door, gets in and drives off. As she is driving off, she sees Korra in the mirror getting into her car.

"Damn you Asami! You can't run from me forever!" Korra yells as she gets into her car. "You damn liar! I knew you and Kuvira had something going on, you literally kissed her!"

*FLASHBACK*

One year ago.

Korra and Asami are at a big party. Everyone is enjoying themselves, loud music is playing and the dance floor is full. Hand in hand, Asami and Korra dance very closely to each other and cleary seem to be having fun.

"Okay, I need a break, wanna drink something?" Korra asks Asami.

"Sure, I'll be waiting over there" she points at a corner.

"Great, will be back in a minute" Korra replies and goes to get something to drink.

As Asami is still waiting in the corner, Korra's bestfriend Kuvira approaches her.

"Hey beautiful, how are you?" Kuvira asks while putting one hand on the wall, and looks seductively at Asami.

"Kuvira stop it, you know Korra doesn't like that and I don't like it either" Asami rolls her eyes, clearly annoyed.

"Oh don't play hard to get, I know you like this" she says and gets closer to her.

Before Asami could shove Kuvira away, someone else approaches Kuvira from behind and throws her on the floor. It is Korra, who looks very very mad.

"How dare you Kuvira!" Korra shouts and points at Kuvira, "How dare you!" Korra yells once again, but this time she points at Asami.

"She forced herself on me! I didn't do anything!" Asami protests and hopes Korra believes her. Korra always had trust issues, but Asami knows that she would never do something like that to the love of her life.

"Don't lie to me!"

"I swear, I am not lying!" Asami defends herself.

Days after this incident, Korra distanced herself from Asami, which really hurt both of them. She didn't believe Asami at first, but decided to forget about this event. It took about two weeks for Korra to forgive Asami, even though she never did anything wrong.

*FLASHBACK END*

Asami speeds through the city in hopes of losing Korra. However, when she looks into the mirror, she can see Korra's car coming dangerously close. She takes a sharp left, and sees how Korra's car loses control and crashes into mailboxes and fire hydrants standing on the street. Water is sprayed everywhere, but Korra doesn't stop, she immediately backs up the car and accelerates to catch up with the CEO. Asami sees Korra in her mirror again.

"What the.... she really doesn't give up!" Asami shouts and decides to take another sharp turn.

Korra may be a police officer, but she isn't a drift master like Asami is, and therefore she tries to take a sharp turn too, fails and runs over two signs on the street and people are jumping away from the car. Still, her car doesn't stop and is still following Asami.

"You can't get rid of me!" Korra yells and accelerates even more.

After about 10 minutes of chasing, both cars are not in the city anymore. They are driving through a beautiful landscape. This could be Korra's chance to ram Asami's car, but before she is able to do that, she sees smoke coming out of Asami's car. Not a second passes and Asami's car is breaking down. She is forced to stop the car and immediately exits it and runs away. Korra drives beside Asami and watches her run.

Korra rolls down her car window.

"Seems like it is not your lucky day" Korra says smiling.

"Shut..... up!" Asami yells as she is trying to run faster.

"Give up Sato, come on hop in" Korra says patting the seat.

Asami looks at her angrily, but decides to get into her car. It is pointless to keep running because Korra is faster than her with the car.

"See! It could have been so easy" Korra smiles and drives off.

It has been five minutes and Asami didn't say one word. Korra looks at her, as she is driving through the landscape. Korra wants to say something, but she is cut off by her phone ringing. She checks who it is, and it is Chief Beifong. Her eyes go wide, the Chief never called her, why is she doing that now?

"Hello Chief?" Korra asks anxiously.

"Are you serious? Speeding through a city, DESTROYING several things, bringing people in DANGER?!" Chief Beifong shouts. "You are all over the news Korra!"

"Oh shit..." Korra says quietly and looks very upset.

Asami on the other hand is amused by the "strong" officer suddenly acting scared when she gets scolded by her boss. Korra always played the strong officer, and only showed weakness and emotions at the beginning of their relationship. Throughout their relationship, Korra became more serious and didn't show that much emotions, which caused problems between the two of them. And now, Asami is able to see Korra's anxious and vulnerable side after a long time. She pities her ex-girlfriend, but is still mad that she got arrested by her and that she accused her of cheating, even though she is innocent.

"Where are you?!" Beifong asks angrily.

"I am near North Levi" Korra replies quietly.

"Go further away, search a hotel and stay there! If you want to keep your job, stay on the low, we will clear everything up. I can't risk losing an officer, so if you want your job back, stay on the low! Got it?!" Beifong orders.

"Yes Chief, I am sorr-" before Korra could end her sentence, Beifong hangs up the phone.

"Fuck..."

"You fulfilled your duty as an officer and arrested me, at least one good thing" Asami says with her arms crossed but still trying to lighten up the mood a little.

"Where are we supposed to go?!" Korra asks and looks at Asami.

Asami can see how sad and desperate Korra is.

"What do you mean with "we"? I am not going anywhere with you!" Asami exclaims. She really doesn't want to go with Korra, so she tries to think of an escape plan.

"Whether you like it or not Asami, we are stuck together now. I have to stay on the low and so do you! If the police sees either one of us, we are screwed!"

Asami looks at Korra, then at the street, then back at Korra. Suddenly, Asami has an idea that is actually pretty stupid.

"It's worth a shot" Asami whispers to herself.

Confused, Korra watches Asami look at her and back to the street. She slows down the car a little and tries to figure out what is going on with her passenger.

"What are you doin- ASAMI!" Korra shouts as Asami opens the passenger door and rolls out.

Luckily, Korra slowed down the car a little, so she didn't seriously hurt herself. When she finally stopped rolling, she stands up and runs away.

"You will never get me bitch!" Asami hollers and runs away in the opposite direction as fast as she can.

"This girl has a lot of nerves!" Korra yells as she backs up the car.
