Chapter 5 - The phone call

"Thank you so much Mr. Cheng!"

"No problem, always glad to help partners of Future Industries, have a nice day!"

"Thank you, you too!"

Korra is very happy that she finally got Asami's phone number. It is not exactly her private phone number, but it is the phone number from her business phone. And as far as Korra knows, Asami carries it with her nearly everywhere, at least she did when the both of them dated and the calls annoyed Korra very much. The funny thing is, Korra never had the number of Asami's business phone, because it just was not necessary. Well, now she does.

"Alright, how do I do this? Just call her and tell her that I am interested in a business? What if she recognizes my voice? What am I gonna do?" She is one step closer with catching Asami, but she doesn't know how to contact her.

"Okay I will just call this number and see if she even picks up."

Asami is still scrolling through her phone gallery. She can't stop looking at pictures of her and Korra together. There are just so many. Even when Asami changed her number, she saved her conversation with Korra in her notes. As she reads through them, there are many arguments but also many love confessions and cute poems. As Asami is reading a poem written by Korra, she can't stop the tears.

Korra's poem

Your green beautiful eyes shine bright,

in my dreams and in reality, you are my knight.

You love me and you take away the darkness by bringing light

when I feel lost, alone and only see the night.

More and more tears start to fall, Asami puts her phone down. It hurts her so much that Korra and her aren't together anymore. The fact that they haven't seen each other for months makes it worse. She loves Korra a lot. Not a single day passes by without Asami thinking about Korra. Just as she is wiping away her tears, her business phone goes off. Her private phone and business phone have different ringtones so Asami can distinguish the two of them. Asami takes her business phone in her hand and sees an unknown number.

"Weird, none of my clients ever called me with an unknown number." Even if Asami is suspicious, she picks up the phone. "Hello?"

After some while, Korra convinces herself to call Asami's number.

"Why am I doing this? Oh gosh please don't pick up- I mean yes please pick up so I can see if it is your number, but still don't pick up!" Korra nervously paces around her office and waits impatiently for Asami to pick up. Korra's heart drops when she hears Asami's soft voice.

"Hello?" Asami says.

Korra slowly starts to panic, she really is talking to Asami, the woman whom she is still in love with. After months of not even seeing each other one time, she is finally hearing her soft voice.

"Hello? Is somebody there?" Asami asks impatiently.

Korra decides to hang up the phone. She now has the confirmation that this is in fact Asami's number. After hanging up and hearing Asami's voice, Korra feels many emotions: happiness, sadness, anger etc. She is just perplexed to finally have some kind of connection to Asami after Asami decided to change her number. Now all that Korra has to figure out is how she will be able to find out Asami's location. But first, Korra has to take a break, she doesn't seem to feel well at all, especially not after hearing her ex-girlfriends voice after many months of no contact.

"Hello? Is somebody there?" Asami asks impatiently.

She waits for a few seconds before the caller suddenly hangs up.

"Well that was weird. Maybe they have a bad connection or whatever."

Asami puts her business phone away and goes into the bathroom to wash her face. Asami decides to not look at photos of her and Korra again, it will only hurt her more. And she will definitely not read her conversation with Korra anymore.
