Chapter 16 - Sabotaging

Korra tries to reach for her uniform that is lying on the floor.

"Luckily I have a second key to my handcuffs" Korra says but struggles to reach her uniform.

Meanwhile Asami speed walks out of the hotel, she just wants to get out. The employee looks at her weirdly, but she doesn't care. As Asami exits the building, she sees Korra's parked car.

She suddenly has the idea to sabotage the car, by taking some parts out of the engine. It takes her about one minute and she immediately closes the engine hood, throws the parts in the bushes, and runs away.

The CEO knows that she can't just call a taxi, she has no money with her and she will definitely not walk back to Republic City or somewhere else. Asami suddenly remembers that she has her  phone with her, she decides to call Zhu Li so she can pick her up.

"Come on..... please pick up" Asami says impatiently.

Suddenly, she hears Zhu Li's voice over the phone.

"Hello Asami, how are you?"

"Hello Zhu Li! I am okay, listen can you pick me up?"

"Sure where are you?"

"Um... wait" Asami replies and tries to look for a sign. "I am in Kyoshi Village."

"Kyoshi Village? Asami that is very far away from your apartment, what are you doing there?"

"Don't ask so many questions, can you please just get me?"

"I am in Tiah City right now taking care of some business, I will be there in like twenty minutes maybe?"

"Okay, thank you so much! I owe you one."

"No need to thank me that is what friends do" Zhu Li answers and hangs up the phone.

Asami has a little time before her assistant arrives, so she decides to run towards the village. There aren't much people walking around, especially because it is dark. The street lights are on and there are fairy lights hanging from people's windows and houses. It looks nice and beautiful and Asami is starting to like this big village.

She needs a hiding space in case Korra breaks free, so she climbs a little hill that is a little behind the village, to have a nice view over it, and to hide from Korra. Some minutes pass and Asami is now sitting on a hill, watching the big village with beautiful lights from above. She starts to think about her life and about her relationship with Korra.

She bought the second apartment to get away from Korra and try to move on. For a while it kind of worked, she mostly slept in her mansion and sometimes in her apartment and in her office. But when Korra suddenly appeared in her apartment earlier, all the feelings the CEO tried to supress immediately came back.

However, she always hated it how Korra accuses her of things she never did or things that aren't her fault. She hated it how Korra hid her emotions and tried to always play the "strong" one. She hated it how Korra focused more on work than she did on Asami and sometimes didn't even return to the mansion at night. She hated the constant arguments that involved Kuvira or someone else. She hated Korra's trust issues that are still present despite Asami's effort on trying to create an environment, where both of them should have no worries. She hated so many things, but she didn't hate one thing:

Korra.

In fact, she loves the other woman so much that it hurts. She actually wants to get back together with her, but right now is definitely not the right moment, and Korra hurt her several times.

Asami sits on the hill for some minutes when she suddenly sees Korra running into the village with her police uniform and it looks like she freed herself from the handcuffs. Asami lies down so Korra can't see her, and it seems like it works. She watches how Korra desperately searches for her, and how she is asking literally everyone.
