Rantaro thought it was silly, having to hold his husbands hand everytime they had to take a car. He should be over this fear already, but he just couldn't. He gazed out the window, then down at his ring. He and Korekiyo just got married and we're coming back from their honeymoon. Rantaro smiled and grasped his lovers hand as he looked at him.
The smile quickly vanished as he looked at the window near Korekiyo. There was a car speeding closer. Rantaro didn't even have any time to think before the car crashed into the side of the cab. That was the last thing he saw before blacking out.
He slowly regained consciousness, the whole left part of his body and especially his head and neck was damaged. Glass shards covered the seats and the driver was unconscious with his head in the airbag. Rantaro could fuzzily hear the sound of sirens approach. He looked beside him the best he could and the sight sent him into a shock. Glass shards, bruises and cuts covered Korekiyo's skin; his neck looked snapped, and worse of all he wasn't breathing.
Rantaro's eyes widened as tears filled his eyes. Memories of the car crash years ago filled his mind. The sight of his sister's body, the guilt he's been carrying all these years, the way he couldn't save him. It all was coming back to him, it felt like his body was paralyzed. Whether it was the shock of it all or from the crash itself, he didn't know nor did he care. His body couldn't stop shaking. No matter how hard he tried to scream but nothing came out. All he could do was cry.
Fortunately the paramedics managed to pull them out of the car and onto the stretchers. They intently checked him over then put them in the ambulance. The last thing he saw was Korekiyo being put in another one before he passed out.
He woke up and found himself in the hospital. The doctor came in and told him he's going to possibly stay there for a whole. His left eye, and rib were damaged. His head and neck luckily not damaged too badly, but will need to be checked just in case. Before the doctor left Rantaro asked him.
"Is my husband Korekiyo okay?" He said weakly.
The doctor looked at the clock and down at the clipboard in her hands.
"Korekiyo Shinguji, correct?"
"Yes.."
She gave him a sorrowful look.
"He died five hours ago, at 7:50 pm."
Rantaro felt as if someone swung a bat at his head.
"I'm sorry for your loss." The doctor said before leaving closing the door.
One again he remained paralyzed. He couldn't believe it. His husband is dead? Korekiyo died? This couldn't possibly be real. It just couldn't be. He's dreaming, he just needs to wake up, right?
What if it wasn't? He should've died instead. Why? Why couldn't he save them? His sister, his lover.
Why couldn't he do anything?
