The main gist of this concept is obviously a rewrite of chapter one of drv3. In which Korekiyo comes into contact with Rantaro's spirit after the trial. This might not be the best concept, more rather something that came up on the spot.
The first change is that Rantaro and Korekiyo investigate together. More towards the second half of the chapter. Although Rantaro still isn't trusting of anyone, and of course he doesn't tell Korekiyo anything. However, Korekiyo knows that he knows more than he's letting on.
Rantaro dies as he would on the original game, Kaede is still found as the "blackened", Tsumugi is still the actual killer. After the trial, Korekiyo pounders about Rantaro and what he was hiding. In the spike of his curiosity he decides to take a major risk, his own life. Seeing as he was able to connect to his sister's spirit by a near death experience; he decides to test if he could connect to Rantaro's spirit too. Through a method he nearly dies, without telling anyone of his plans before hand. Much to his relief, he survives this. Managing to reach Rantaro within the hands of death. The next morning he finds himself not in his room, one of his classmates by his side mentioning how he nearly died that night. He plays ignorant saying that he must've accidentally hurt himself amis his own grief for the fallen. Although he feels off, he hurries off despite his body not being in best shape. That's when he hears Rantaro's voice.
Throughout the rest of the story, Korekiyo acts as he normally would. Although he is constantly interacting with his old friend, as they try to make sense of things. Rantaro possesses Korekiyo's body from time to time as well. He also now wears Rantaro's necklace underneath his uniform. Rantaro tells Korekiyo about everything he knows, he realized that he didn't have to hide it anymore since he's already dead. Technically having another chance to put a stop to all of this, he takes it. Little did he know, he had no idea who actually killed him.
