It was Beth at James's front door. I slowly got off the couch and walked to the the door. She was grinning like she had just ate her whole plate of vegetables or she had won a prize. This prize was mine.
I hadn't seen Beth in forever. I thought it was clear, that she'd stay away from James. This was all a joke. Could I pinch myself and wake up. Nope. This brat would still be here in front of me. James still hadn't said anything. I was right beside him and Beth was still grinning. Ugh. James's mouth was hung open and he looked confused.
"What do you think you're doing here?" I asked crossing my arms.
"Didn't think this was your house." She said and furrowed her eyebrows.
"What do you want?" James chimed in for the first time. She looked over at James and smiled.
"You told me you wanted me, remember? You texted me like an hour ago!" She said happily and quickly gave me a glare. James looked over at me. I looked down and felt my eyes get teary. Not now Riley!
"Beth, really?" James said rolling his eyes.
"James," I whispered. I shook my head and stepped outside bare footed. The concrete porch was cold on my feet. I purposely brushed my shoulder past Beth as I walked out.
"You bitch." I said straight to her. I walked right out of James's house. I had no clue where I was going without shoes. I was crying. I probably looked like an idiot. I hoped to never see Beth again and there she was standing on James's porch. James actually told her that? He wants her? Ugh. They disgust me. They're both brutal cheaters. I came to a random bus stop. I went in and sat down and brought out my phone. I dialled Emily's number.
"Hey Riley." She said happily.
"Em," I said taking a deep breathe. I wanted to stop crying but I couldn't.
"What's wrong?" She asked knowing I was crying.
"Can you pick me up. I'm at the corner by James's house." I said. I was cold and I likely looked like living hell.
"I'm around the corner. I'll be right there," she said and hung up. My hands and feet were cold. The whole sickness thing was coming back to me. James. He didn't come running after me. Maybe he planned all of this out. I dug my head in my knees as I tried to warm myself up and then I felt hands touch me.
"Riley!" Emily said and I looked up.
"Get in the car, you must be freezing!" She said and pulled me to the passenger side of the car. The tears started streaming out again. I realized that when I was together with James, I cried more than I ever did usually. Maybe it was meant to be like this. It happened for a reason.
"What happened?" She said throwing me a sweater from underneath her seat. I put it on and she turned up the heater. She didn't start the car and was waiting for an answer.
"Beth, she-" I sobbed again.
"Shh...stop crying for a second." She said patting my shoulder. I took a few deep breaths and fiddled with my hands.
"She was at his door. She said she texted James like an hour ago and he said he wanted her! I was right there and I just walked out," I said and shook my head.
"Riley, that's a dick move. James isn't right for you if that's how it's going to be. He shouldn't even be texting another girl," she said and started driving.
"I know, I know." I said crying rivers of tears again. We finally pulled into our driveway and we both kind of sat there.
"He didn't even come after me," I said and wiped my eyes.
Emily reached over to me for a hug. I squeezed her tightly.
I got on my pyjamas and tried to ignore everything that happened. I couldn't do that. He would be here if he wanted to apologize. He would've texted me. I kept checking my phone, wasting every minute and there was nothing.
I never thought about leaving the world. I never thought about forgetting life itself and being by myself in a beautiful place, other than Earth. I had never been suicidal before. No Riley. Stop. This isn't even big. There are people dying. It was one person that ruined your day. Tomorrow will be better.
James's POV
Beth lied. I didn't text her or even communicate with her since forever to be honest. I've never seen Riley give me that look before. Beth locked me in my own house. My mom went out somewhere without me knowing. It was me and Beth. Riley wasn't going to come back anytime soon. Riley. I miss her already. Riley come back please. Don't waste tears. I want to kiss her and hug her tightly and never let her go. I love Riley. I wouldn't hurt her.
"What do you want!" I yelled at Beth as she locked the front door.
"You left me. I'll leave you, if you give me what I want," she said smirking.
"What!" I shouted throwing my hands in the air like I was surrendering. She came up to me.
"This," she said smashing her lips onto mine. She pinned my arms above my head on the wall and her lips moved all over mine. She didn't even know how o kiss right. Ugh, I hate her! Of course I didn't kiss her back.
"Baby, give me what I want," she whispered into my ear.
"No!" I said pushing her off of me and she opened her mouth.
"Stop. Obey me or you won't ever get Riley back." She said in a baby voice crossing her arms.
"Don't do this!" I yelled at her.
"Okay, then just come here," she said taking off her sweater which left her in a tank top.
"No!" I said backing away.
"James, I'll give it to you better than Riley ever will." She said coming up to her and I grabbed her arms.
"You already ruined it. Get out of my house before I beat your ass. I mean it. You won't ever get what you wanted. I hate you. And I won't ever regret that." I said letting go of her and then I picked up her sweater and threw it at her. I unlocked my door and her mouth was still hung open. I rolled my eyes and she finally walked out. Riley. I love you. Come back.
