SUSANS CHRISTMAS WISH

AGES:
Peter: 22
Susan: 21
Edmund: 19
Lucy: 17

19th December 1948

All Susan had wanted this year was to go home to see her family this year. But she had had to stay in America a little longer to help dad out.

She missed her siblings terribly. She thought back to their narnian reign, the memory becoming more faded in her head.

She was snapped out of her thoughts when her father appeared at the door of her room.

"Susan, dear. I have an early Christmas present for you" he explained.
"What is it?" Susan questioned, a smile appearing on her face.

"We're going back to england for Christmas!" He exclaimed excitedly.

"Dad! Thank you so much!" She said as he pulled her father into a tight hug.

"Oh, I need to pack! I can't wait to see the others!"

20th December 1948

Susan looked out of the plane window as she watched the clouds move. At one point, she swore she spotted a cloud in the shape of a lion, but shrugged it off as just overactive imagination.

She looked through old family photos to pass the time, her smile getting bigger and bigger as she looked at each photo.

21st December 1948

Susan and her father finally reached the house, and it was quite early in the morning.

The others didn't know Susan and their father was coming, and they had left it as a surprise.  And with that thought, Susan knocked on the door.

Peter had been home for the past week, helping their mum set up the house for Christmas.
He heard a knock at the door and rushed to answer it.

When he saw Susan stood there, he almost couldn't believe it.
"Susan!" He exclaimed with excitement and pulled his sister into a joyful hug.

Edmund and Lucy, who had been busy wrapping peters present upstairs, heard all the noise and rushed downstairs.

"Susan!" They both shouted with excitement as they also joined in with the hug.

Even Eustace and Jill, who the pevensies had invited, where excited to see Susan.

It had even been a surprise to Helen, as she went up to her husband and hugged him tightly.

It was a great day and a great Christmas.

They were all together. Laughing and playing games together, like old times. It was like they hadn't grown up at all.

Susan had promised herself to treasure the time she had with her family at Christmas. Her Christmas wish had come true. They were all together.

Christmas Day, 1949

Susan's eyes flashed open as reality hit her. It was Christmas morning. She had dreamt about last Christmas, when had come home from America with dad and surprised everyone.

"Susan! Time to open presents!" Helen shouted from downstairs, trying to sound excited as she could.

Susan sadly made her way downstairs into a silent living room. The tree didn't seem as colourful, the food didn't smell as good, the light seemed dimmer.

Susan opened her presents in silence, her heart slowly breaking. She missed them. She missed them so much. She missed peters laugh, she missed Edmunds jokes, she missed Lucy's smile.

but she couldn't turn back time. She couldn't stop that train from crashing.

And with that, she burst into tears, realising that she was now truly alone.

( this was in dedication to the character of Susan Pevensie since it was just Anna Popplewells 32nd birthday! )
