"8...9...10 ready or not here I come," The seven year old backed up from the wall, her eyes darting around the room before she dashed out of the living room and into the next room. She had managed to convince her brothers to play a game of hide and seek with her and she was it.
Her eyes scanned the kitchen, looking under the table and opening the cabinets making sure Stefan wasnt crammed in one of them like she had been last time they played.
When she realized there was no one in the kitchen she made her way to the second floor, she was going to check their rooms when something had caught her attention.
Their fathers office door was slightly open. He never left it open. A sly smirk made its way to her face once she realized one of her brothers was hiding in there. No doubt Stefan although she hoped it was Damon seeing as she could never find him in a game of hide and seek when they played.
The idea of finding one of them had clouded the fear of getting caught by her father. She pushed the door slightly hoping she didn't make much noise so she could sneak up on whichever one of her brothers were hiding in here.
Her eyes scanned the room, darting from corner to corner before stopping on a pile of papers on the floor next to her fathers desk. Her eyes lifted to the chair which was pushed back towards the wall leaving enough space for someone to crawl under the table. Amber had to hold back a laugh as she tiptoed around the desk before dropping down to her knees in front of the gap and yelling.
"Got ya!" Amber yelled, earning a frightened scream from Stefan, one that made her laugh even more.
"You cheater," Stefan whined as he crawled out from his hiding spot, bumping into Amber who fell on her butt, still in a fit of laughter.
"You should see your face," Amber laughed, finally standing up from the floor and pushing Stefan back. "And I didn't cheat, you just suck at this game,"
"I do not." Stefan huffed out, crossing his arms over his chest. "That's why I'm not telling you where Damon is hiding," Amber's eyes twinkled with mischief at the mention of Damon's hiding spot. Every time they played together she could never find him.
"Where is he hiding you little brat," A grin took over Stefans face as he stuck his tongue out. "Oh come on tell me," Before Stefan could reply the sound of heavy footsteps startled the both of them, the smiles on their faces disappearing as they turned to the door then to each other, fear evident on their faces.
"Amber, Stefan?" The twins let out a breath of relief when they heard their older brother's voice, grateful it wasn't their fathers.
"In here!" Amber called out. The twins watched as Damon peaked into the office, concern washed over his face as his eyes darted between them.
"I heard Stefan scream is everything ok," He asked, fully inside of the office.
"Oh he's fine he's just a scardy cat," Amber teased, earning another shove from Stefan causing her to topple over some before catching her balance. "Hey!" She called out.
"You're not supposed to be in here," The concern in Damon's eyes had turned to fear once he knew they were ok.
"Blame Stefan he was hiding in here," Amber answered while Stefan sent a glare in her direction
"Father told us many times we are not supposed to be in his office unless told to. You know what will happen if he finds us in here," Ambers eyes darted to the burn on Damon's right arm, guilt washing over her as she recalled the reason why he had the burn.
