Second year

"Jude where is she? Why does she always do this to us?" Teddy questions.

"I dunno Ed, I mean she's a girl. Maybe she was taking her time with makeup or something?" I answer. Teddy's face contorts in a confused and surprised look.

"Have you ever seen Rue put on makeup? I mean she barely gets to brushing her hair some days!" Teddy exclaims. I nod in agreement, not taking my eyes off the train platform.

Teddy and I had already been to Hogwarts for a year and finally our trio would be back together again as Rue starts Hogwarts this year. It didn't surprise me she was late, she was always either getting into trouble or extremely focused on something to the point where she forgets the world around her.

Teddy and I look at each other when we hear the train let out the last warning whistle.

"Cmon, her dad will bring her if she doesn't make the train. We shouldn't worry too much about that." I say as I drag Teddy onto the train.
"That's what I'm worried about, Neville- er- I mean Professor Longbottom won't be happy if he finds out she missed the train on her first year to Hogwarts. You know how he is." Teddy groans as I drag him onto the express.

And I did know what he meant. Mr. Longbottom was never a strict man, but when it came to Rue zoning out or not joining in on activities around her, he was almost worried for her. I've never seen the man grow upset with his daughter but he worried for her greatly. "Losing focus can lead to future failure. If you miss something now, you may miss it more later." He used to always say to her. I didn't really understand what he meant, I just assume he didn't want Rue to miss out on anything in her childhood.

"What house do you think she will get? It always upset me that you, me, and Victorie were separated. Do you think Rue will get in one of our houses?" Teddy continues.

Teddy almost never stopped talking. Teddy was put in Hufflepuff house, he always made friends easy and always seemed to have the energy and positivity for everyone in the room. Victorie, Bill and Fluer Weasley's daughter, was sorted into Ravenclaw. She was always extremely focused and attentive to everything around her. I was sorted into Gryffindor, the rest of my family and friends were always so excited and proud of that. I never understood the whole house bias but there definitely was one, even between my close friends and family, and for sure throughout Hogwarts.

"She seems like a Ravenclaw to me." I finally reply.
"Yeah that's true, always reading and writing, sounds like Ravenclaw to me." Teddy agrees.

As we walk passed many compartments that are full we search for one that is empty that we can occupy, although we didn't expect to see who occupied the next compartment we came up on.

"Rue? For Merlin's sake you were here the whole time!?!? Jude and I were waiting for you on the platform for like ever!!" Teddy exclaims.

I peer in to see Rue is mid conversation with Slytherins, not just any Slytherins though, but those whom I've never gotten along with. Even Teddy had a hard time being around Calum Nott. He always had a smile on his face yet the words he spoke were never kind. He held a very strong blood prejudice, something my family and Teddy's always said was wrong. Even the Malfoys moved past that way of thinking. Yet there were still students at Hogwarts that kept the old way of thinking despite the wars fought against it.
