"You got what!?!?" Teddy exclaims from the other side of the Hufflepuff table.

I take a seat in between Rue and Mary, ignoring the fact that Teddy is now the loudest person in the great hall.

"Wait you are lying, you are messing with me aren't you?" He questions.

"No he isn't, Rue and I were there! He actually made main Keeper AND co-captain!!" Jasper explains.

"Congratulations Jude, I'm not super surprised, but congrats either way." Victoire announces.

"Aren't you impressed I got backup chaser on my team Vic?" Teddy asks with a proud smile.

"Thoroughly surprised actually." She says before turning back to her food.

Teddy shoots her a look of confusion and anger. We all laugh at the insult then go back to our chit chat. I turn towards Rue when I see her getting up from her seat.

"Where are you going?" I ask.

"The library, I need to look into a few things. See you tomorrow?" She says with a cheerful grin.

"Sure." I reply as cheerfully as I can. She nods and turns to walk out of the great hall. I almost turn back towards my friends but the sight of her talking to her father before rounding the corner catches my eye.

Neville seems to be talking to Rue in a very serious tone. Both their faces are filled with worry. He then pulls her into a hug and rubs her back in a comforting way before sending her on her way.

Just a moment ago Rue looked happy as can be and in an instant her smile dissolved into something else. I wondered why she felt the need to hide her emotions from me, her best friend, And why?

I lean in to whisper to Mary.
"Mary, has Rue been upset about something lately?"

"No why?" She replies quickly.

"Never mind.

....

The next few weeks fly by. With quidditch practice, studying, homework, and friends. It all seemed to be going pretty well for me all things considered. I thought quidditch would tire me out way more but it wasn't too bad. Our team was all really good and well practiced so we didn't have to go too hard.

Recently I've noticed Rue slipping away from the group or missing from study sessions more and more. Something was definitely up with her and I needed to know what it was but I also didn't want to over step any boundaries and upset her.

....

It was a warm Sunday afternoon by the lake. Some of us were choosing to study and others chose to goof around. I was mid way done with my charms work. feeling really proud of my work so far, I choose to set it aside and chat with my friends.
