It had been a couple of days since the accident and Lucifer acted as if nothing had happened. Not a scratch on his perfectly chiseled body, which obviously rose some suspicion with Chloe but she trusted him with her life, and more so when he told her not to worry about him, she didn't bother to argue. The accident might not have affected Lucifer but he had clearly noticed that there was something off with his detective. She had came to the penthouse above Lux a few times just to check up on him (sometimes even talking to maze) but had avoided conversations with him at work as much as possible as if she was avoiding a certain kind of conversation.
The precinct was packed as it was and many police officers were having different conversations about past murders they have solved and considering it was Friday, the weekend that was approaching them urgently but slowly. Lucifer didn't take notice of them though. He was too busy looking at the angel in front of him sitting at her desk and filling out paperwork like she usually did on a Friday when they didn't have any cases to solve.
"Hey" a flirtatious smirk spread across Lucifer's face as he said it.
"Hi Lucifer", she said quite dully while not looking up at the paperwork, filling in a certain page and then turning to the next. She seemed annoyed as if something was on her mind. He stood behind the detective's spinny chair as he started to wheel her into the interrogation room.
"Lucifer, what are doing? I'm trying to do this paperwork for the case we just finished" she said strictly as if she was waiting for him to react to the tone of her voice but he didn't. Her hands waved around the place like she was one of those inflatable tubes outside of a random gas station on the side of the road."I'm doing you a favor", Lucifer replied as he shut the room's door. Lucifer looked up at her and the worry in his eyes grew from out of nowhere. This woman isn't just any other human. She was the woman who made the devil vulnerable. The one who made the devil crave, excitement when it was least expected and he was willing to do anything for her. Anything to keep her happy.
"What are you doing Lucifer?", she asked as he sat down on the table and begin to stare at her. She was beginning to get angry and that wasn't a good thing for anyone because if she was angry or annoyed, the whole precinct would usually know. If she was stressed, the whole precinct was stressed.
"Tell me what's wrong," he told her. He was usually the type of person to demand this kind of thing from someone who didn't necessarily mean anything to him but he couldn't be aggressive with her.
"What do you mean?". You could tell she was tired as she rubbed her eyelids as the bright light above them, stinging the inside of her eyes. This made him panic even more thinking it might have been something he had said or done earlier.
"Lucifer I'm fine. I just have so much paperwork to do and I really can't waste all of my time dealing with all of your 'luciferness' " she said and added air quotes to the word luciferness to explain her position more clearly yet again waving her hands around in his direction.Lucifer looked down at his shoes in a somewhat kind of disappointment at her choice of words but soon enough, his face gained a particularly large grin as if a lightbulb had just lit up above his head.
"Text me when you've finished work, then go home and get all fancy," he said while waving his fingers about in a type of hand gesture that just confused Chloe even more.
"Where are we going now?" Chloe complained as she felt like she was being tossed about like a rag doll.
"I'm taking you out to dinner of course. I'll pick you up at 7:30 so be ready by then" and without any hesitation, Lucifer left the room with a smile on his face as if he was proud of himself for being so seductive when he wanted to be. Even Chloe could admit that he was attractive when he pretended to be all grown up and tried to help around the office even though sometimes it could be annoying.Work went surprisingly faster than usual for Chloe as if someone was answering her prayers even though she wasn't going to admit that. Packing up for the day, she put all the files that she worked on that day and stood them all up in front of her desk ready for the next morning (tomorrow- another day of work). Chloe sighed as she thought about Lucifer and this dinner she was supposed to be going to but he would have made her get ready and dress up all fancy even if she tried to refuse. She didn't want to put up with his sarcasticness and it would have been too much effort to argue anyway so she obeyed him.
The drive home to her apartment felt like it took forever but when she arrived, Chloe went straight to her closet. She wasn't sure why but she started to feel more and more excited by the second about this alleged surprise dinner Lucifer was planning. Getting out a matt black pencil dress and navy blue heels from the shelf, she looked at herself in the mirror and was quite impressed at how formal she had looked in this outfit. Chloe curled her hair and put on light makeup and her look was officially complete. As she looked at herself in the mirror again, she heard a car pull up into the driveway. The sound of the corvet relaxed her muscles as if she felt safe around Lucifer.
