Today is Halloween. Angel, Lukyo, Rin and Khalid all agreed to meet during the evening and they would stay up all night during the ritual. It's a full moon, Angel and Lukyo find this coincidence to be marvelous.
Angelis reflecting on what Lukyo had explained to them yesterday about the ritual. 'We are going to summon the demon into a doll-erm-a random doll, or a stuffed toy and it's just like we're going to be playing tag, but instead of just catching us is going to try and kill us. We're obviously going to be faster than a sack of beans, right? If we make it one hour without catching us it will enhance our magical powers. But we can't let it stay in there too long or the demon will become stronger and faster and may actually get us.'
He knew that he could never handle staying up so late. He decided to sleep all day so that he could be fully present. Lukyo instead is preparing a backpack with all the essential for the ritual.
'I can feel something c-coming.' Rin says, worryingly. Moving his white queen towards Khalid's black king.
There are very few pieces left on the board.
'Yeah? What's that?' Khalid asks him. He knows he already lost against him. He moves his black bishop along the black lines, just to move the game forward.
'I d-don't know b-but it's p-powerfu-ul. Y-you know if y-you move this p-piece here it's check-ck-mate a-and you have a higher ch-chance of beating me.' He points to the bishop. 'And it's scaring me. Ah-I've been reading the c-cards, I k-keep getting o-ones that m-mean b-big changes, bad changes, isolation, depression...'
Angel was almost falling asleep until the phone rings, he thought it would be Glenn to check in from work, making sure that he's okay.
'Hello, Angel.'
'Oh, hi Liam.' Angel says, very tired.
'What are you doing?' He asks.
Angel doesn't know what to say, he remains silent for a few seconds. Did he really just call me to ask what I'm doing?
'Hello?'
'I was sleeping... Almost.' Angel says, rather annoyed.
'Do you want me to come over and make you some lunch?' Liam asks.
'No, that's okay. I already made myself a bagel with salmon and avocado earlier.' Angel says. He just wants this conversation to be over and get back to bed.
'Do you want me to make you some pasta? Some eggs? Bring you some ice cream?' Liam asks.
'No. I said I just ate. I'm not hungry.' Angel says, very impatiently.
'Do you want me to get you anything at the grocery store?' Liam insists.
'No, I want to sleep.' Angel says as calmly as possible.
'Alright. Well I gotta go and run some errands. I'm supposed to come by during the evening anyway to take you guys trick or treating. Call me if you need anything, okay? Okay. Bye-bye' Liam says.
Angel relieved, hangs up the phone. Does he ever stop talking. If I say I don't want anything don't go and shove things down my throat!
He lies down. Completely awake now. He wishes that Liam never called. A few more minutes and he would have been so deep into his sleep that he wouldn't have even heard the phone ring.
The phone rings again. 'Who dares interrupt my sleep?' Angel gets up once again and answers the phone.
'Hello, Angel?' Liam says.
'...Yes?' Angel says angered.
'What are you doing?' Liam asks.
Is he making fun of me? 'Ah-I told you. I wanted to sleep.' Angel is about to snap.
