Trigger warning; references to sexual assault

Friday evening before the party, Daphne and I got ready together in our dorm. She was attempting to keep us in high spirits after I had remained in an incredibly low mood for most of the week.

After my evening in the Gryffindor common room, I hadn't felt the same. I ran back to our dorm and collapsed on Daphne in floods of tears. A multitude of emotions rushed through me but the overarching one was absolute devastation.

"It's over" I wailed, burying my head in her pillow.

"What's happened?" she said, stroking my hair.

"He slept with Alicia Spinnet and he lied about it" I sobbed.

"Oh Celeste, I'm so sorry, it will be okay I promise" she cooed.

"I won't be Daphne, I slept with him" saying the words out loud only reminded me and my sobs thundered louder.

"How was it?" she whispered, twirling her finger through a curl in my hair.

"Daphne it was wonderful, it was everything I could have wanted but it's ruined"

"Don't think of it like that, you had a lovely experience and just forget everything else after it"

"I can't" I wailed, lifting my head to look at her, shaking away her hands from my hair.

"The party will take your mind off things, I promise"

I was excited but I felt nervous to be going to the Manor for the first time. I'd heard tales of its opulence from other Slytherins that had been invited before and wanted to make sure I was able to blend in.

Daphne insisted she chose my clothing for the night, selecting one of her own dresses for me to put on. I would never have chosen it for myself, it was a short velvet dress with lace detailing around the neck and thin straps. I slipped it over my head and looked at myself in the mirror.

"It's perfect" Daphne gushed. She placed low, black satin heels on the ground in front and motioned for me to put them on. I stared at myself in the mirror and didn't quite recognise who was looking back, but I trusted her judgment.

"Come on let's go find that port key" Daphne beamed, linking her arm with mine. The cool evening air hit my bare skin as we made our way out of the dormitories to the common room.

"Draco said it would be something that stuck out but not so obvious that a teacher might find it" I whispered. First year students peered at us suspiciously, dressed in such finery but hunting around the common room mindlessly for something.

"Is that a Gryffindor tie?" Daphne called, pointing to something burgundy, hanging off the back of a chair tucked away in the corner.

I went over to nudge it with my wand and take a closer look, she was right, it was a Gryffindor tie. It was certainly out of place here and we agreed that it must be it. I flipped it over with my wand to get a closer look and saw a messily sewn in label that read 'Fred Weasley'. I rolled my eyes at Daphne and she let a hushed giggle slip. Good one Draco, I thought to myself. How on earth had he got it?

We shut our eyes, grabbed ahold of the tie together and immediately the rushing sound of the world spinning around us whistled in our ears. We dropped outside a grand estate, the grounds were deathly silent but the house looked alive with lights and the shadows of dancing figures. He must have cast a silencing spell, clever.

I collected Fred's tie from the ground near us to put in my bag, I'm sure he'd be looking for it and we made our way up the steps. My heart violently began to thump underneath my dress and I laid a hand over my chest to try my best to steady it.
