Kanyadaan is the indispensable ,sacred ritual in South Indian hindu wedding.. It's performed by the bride's father literally means - giving away his daughter to the groom...
" Shravan ... Here's is my daughter ... I am making you responsible for my Suman now onwards. Suman will be a best part of you in your life... God bless you both.. "Appa gives away my hand to Shravan... His eyes become moist when I sit near Shravan, leaving appa ' a side..
" Uncle... Don't worry ... Though it's difficult I will take good care of her.. "
Shravan reassures appa ... Appa pats Shravan's back...
" Well said Shravan... Actually we should be worried about you only... Be careful with her my boy.."
Appa says funnily ,where I roll my eyes to appa in fake anger...
The place loads off with giggles and chuckles...
" Suman... We like the groom very much... He's good looking and humorous too..."
One of our relatives certified Shravan ... He arches his brows at me and lifts his shirt collar stylish...
Shrinking eyes ,I nod ok at him...
Next , panigrahana - holding the hands together infront of the sacred fire to signify the union...
Thirdly , saptapadi - the promise in front of the Agni ( sacred fire)....
For each step to encircle the Agni , we promise each other that we will be thick and thin that we go through in our married life...
Shravan ties the wedding knot amidst fun and fabulous moments..
The wedding chain is a bunch of seven thread that soaked in turmeric powder with a specific piece of jewelry .. That's known as - thali...
With everyone's ashirvad , our wedding is over...
Granny is so happy to bless us with huge love . we are content that we are able to witness her happiness by fulfilling her last wish...
We have certain post wedding rituals too ... Still , we decide to leave them except - grihapravesam... Which symbolizes the entry of young couple to their new life...
That ritual usually happens at groom's house.. but , we don't have much time now ... So , Amma makes me to enter my house with a litted lamp ...
With that simple gesture , the ritual gets complete...
I thank Shravan and his parents when we're talking leisurely...
His culture is different from mine... Yet , He or his parents never demand us that the wedding must happen as they wish...
I am really proud to be a part of his family...
As the day goes on , one by one relatives and friends begin to leave...
It's evening and we're exhausted due to the long tiring day...
Amma tells me that we have to visit the nearest temple...
Shravan goes to freshen up and so as I ...
We visit the nearest temple and return...
As the time gets closer to night ,the wedding night rituals begin...
As usual I am the best entertainment for my cousins...
