JISOO

We took a short break after that question of meeting the parents, making me use that time to think of the first time Rosie brought me home with her to meet her family. It reminded me of how I thought her father didn't think I was good enough for his daughter the moment we first met.

Rosie comes from a background of affluence. Her immediate family are all lawyers by profession, and in the city she came from, her family owned the biggest law firm. I always knew that Rosie came from a wealthy family, but I truly underestimated just how much until we pulled up to her family home.

"Welcome to my humble abode", I remember her saying the moment the cab we took from the airport stopped in front of the biggest mansion I've ever seen in my life. I should have known better when we entered this posh-looking neighborhood, where the grass was manicured to perfection and everybody owned a luxury vehicle just sitting outside their homes as if they weren't afraid of it being stolen by some homeless junkie.

Humble abode, my ass.

We walked into her humble abode and was greeted by a member of staff, telling us that our rooms are ready and that dinner is at 7pm. I think back to my own home in that old, irrelevant town, and think about how I could probably fit like 3 of them in this living room alone. Suddenly,  I was a little bit intimidated and I had an urge to throw up. I'm just a kid from a small town, how the hell did I manage to get myself a girl at this level?

I guess something in my expression or in my body posture changed, making Rosie look at me in a questioning manner.

"You alright?"

I could only nod at her before she she took my hand and dragged me to her room. I don't even remember how I got there. All I know is that one moment, I was standing in the middle of their living room being told that my room is ready, and the next moment, I'm standing with Rosie in her childhood bedroom, being asked which side of the bed I preferred.

Shaking out of my daze, I let out a nervous chuckle and said, "I have my own room", making my girlfriend pout at me with wide puppy eyes. She looked so adorable, all I wanted was to squish her face and keep her in my pocket.

"Oh... okay...", Rosie said. She sounded so sad, it almost broke my heart.

"Are you okay?", I asked her.

Rosie sat on her bed and looked at me, still with that pout on her face. "Yeah, I guess", she said, deeply sighing after.

I walked over to her to give her a kiss on the cheek before I made a move for the door. I was about to turn the knob until I heard a soft sniffle behind me, immediately making me let go of the handle to run back to my girlfriend, who now had a stray tear rolling down her cheek.

"Hey, what's wrong?", I said as I took her face in my hand and wiped the stray tear away with my thumb.

"Nothing", she said, eyes glistening under the light.

"It doesn't look like nothing to me. Come on, what's wrong?", I tried to coax her.

Rosie sighed deeply before she finally told me what was on her mind.

"I just thought that you could sleep here with me. But it seems like you don't want to.", she said, sounding so brokenhearted.

I sat next to her on the bed and took her in my arms. "Oh, sweetheart..."
